The 11th BJIFF Beijing Film Market Hit Another Record in Contract Signing
On September 25, the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) Beijing Film Market Contract Signing Ceremony took place at Beijing Radio & Television Station. A total of 44 key projects were signed and released with 39 enterprises at the Beijing Film Market, with a total contract amount of 35.223 billion yuan, an increase of about 6 percent year-on-year, hitting a new record high.
Beijing Film Market is an important part of the BJIFF. As one of the most important sessions of the Beijing Film Market, the signing ceremony has always attracted the attention of the whole society. As a major event in the film industry every year, it will affect the trend of film industry next year. The projects to be signed include different sessions in the chain of film industry, such as film projects, film and television industry funds and film series derivatives. A total of 39 enterprises and institutions as follows signed the key projects on the stage this year.
Bank of Beijing brought a total of 5 projects to the signing ceremony, including the strategic cooperation agreement between Bank of Beijing and the Beijing Municipal Film Administration to further promote the construction of National Cultural Center in Beijing. Bank of Beijing plans to provide not less than 20 billion yuan of credit for capital film industry enterprises to support the development of excellent film companies, the construction of film industry clusters and key film projects, work together to create a film and television highland with world influences.
Meanwhile, Chaoyangmenwai Branch of Bank of Beijing and Cuiwei Branch of Bank of Beijing will sign a cooperation agreement worth one billion yuan with Bona Film Group and Enlight Media to help enterprises continue to create high-quality films; two branches of Bank of Beijing dedicated for cultural and creative development: Yonghe Wenchuang Branch of Bank of Beijing and Dawang Wenchuang Branch of Bank of Beijing signed cooperation agreements with Maoyan Entertainment and He Li Chen Guang Group with a total contract amount of 130 million yuan to support the filmmaking and distribution.
In addition, Poly Culture, Poly Pictures, Poly Huaxin and China Mobile (Beijing) have reached a strategic cooperation. Both parties will carry out all-round cooperation in the cultural industry to open up the digital cultural industry chain, 5G and artificial intelligence, cloud computing, unmanned smart cinema and other technology applications, so as to help the digital transformation of Poly Culture.
Meanwhile, at the “Contract Signing of Poly Pictures’ Key Film and Television Projects Cooperative Production”, the film Live in Chang’an, Fighting Against Ebola, a key film on China's medical team in Africa and Operation Typhoon, a crime action film based on real cases in the Greater Bay Area were released; at the “Contract Signing of Poly Pictures’ Key Film and Television Projects Promotion and Distribution”, the sci-fi suspense film Parallel Forest and the animated film King Gesar: Tribulation were released.
Meanwhile, as a central enterprise dedicated in entire cultural industry chain, Poly Pictures reached a comprehensive strategic cooperation with Joy Spreader Group Inc., a Hong Kong-listed technology company and signed the "Internet Cultural and Entertainment Industry Strategic Cooperation”. Both parties will actively explore cooperation and joint venture in different forms, carry out in-depth collaboration in terms of film and television content production, network publicity, secondary marketing of film and television content and industry consultation, so as to continuously expand business extensions and improve the technology level of the film and television industry.
Beijing Cultural Investment Holdings Co., Ltd. released two film and television projects at the “Beijing Cultural Investment Holdings’ Winter Olympics Cultural Promotion in 100 Cities”: the animated film Our Winter Olympics and the animated series 2022 to Beijing. At the same time, another three films were also released: Legend of Kitchen God, To Our Dreamland of Ice and Relics Excavated from Jiangkou.
In addition, Beijing Cultural Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., Poly Pictures and Zhujiang Film & Media Corporation Limited jointly signed the "All-round Strategic Cooperation in the Film and Television Industry”. As the central enterprises dedicated in entire cultural industry chain of film and television, they will actively expand multi-dimensional industrial collaboration, carry out all-round and in-depth strategic cooperation in film project investment and production, joint content development of film and TV series, theater distribution collaboration and development of film and television derivatives, so as to fully play the advantages of state-owned enterprises, take resources integration and complementation, development and win-win as the concept, help the rigorous development of film and television industry in Beijing.
Wanda Pictures released two films Welcome to Future and Don't Want to be Friends with You. Beijing Yingqing Culture Media Co., Ltd. has released six key contracted projects: Crossroad, Misty Jungle, Belated Father's Love, Snowstorm, Escape from the Valley of Evils and Bohai Sea. Beijing Qi Tai Cultural & Media Co. Ltd. released two film projects: Trilogy of Secret Ancient Treasures and Missing. Beijing Heart Vision New Film Star Culture Media Co., Ltd. released four films: Bandit Kidnapping, Young Agent, Looking for Cow and In the Name of a Son.
Aoying International Media Group Co. Ltd. joined hand with multiple enterprises and organizations to sign the “Aoying Zhangwo High-tech Film Intelligent Cultural Tourism Industrial Park” project, “Zhongci Aoying (China) Public Benefits Film Support Program” and “Aoying Xinyuxuan China Xingsheng Film Project”.
Beijing Lechuang Youxi Hotel Management Co., Ltd. and Jingjiangnan Digital Entertainment (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. signed the "Youxi Film Hotel" project, aiming to create a mid-to-high-end hotel brand with "hotel + film” crossover integration.
After the signing ceremony, Wang Jiequn, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Director of the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, announced that the total amount of signing contract for Beijing Film Market this year reached 35.223 billion yuan and then affirmed the "magnetite" role of the Beijing Film Market in the concluding speech. Over the past 11 years, based on the development of the film industry and with the theme of "display, promotion, exchange and transaction”, the “Beijing Film Market” has developed three platforms, namely “Film Factor Transaction Platform”, “Project Pitches Transaction Platform” and “Film Copyright Transaction Platform” to attract outstanding projects to be submitted and many commercial entities to sign projects and cooperate, forming strong cohesiveness and influence in the industry. The Beijing Film Market Contract Signing Ceremony has promoted negotiation and signing of 346 key projects over the past 11 years, with a total transaction volume of 200.251 billion yuan, a great validation of the acceptance and recognition of the platform in the industry.
The 11th BJIFF will continue to play the leading role as a cultural platform, and “share the screen, shape the future” to promote the prosperity and development of the Chinese film market together with companies in the industry.
