The 11th Beijing International Film Festival will be held from August 14 to 21, 2021. Starting today, the Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival collects films from all over the world, and any film applied for the “Tiantan Award” competition section, “Beijing Film Panorama” section and “Forward Future” section can be registered via the official website of Beijing International Film Festival (www.bjiff.com).

▞ Tiantan Award Competition Section

The “Tiantan Award” competition section is the feature film competition section at the Beijing International Film Festival, and there are 10 awards, including the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Visual Effects. The results of the awards will be announced at the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival, and certificates and trophies will be presented to the winners.

▘Films to be registered shall meet the following conditions

They should be feature films produced after January 1, 2020;

The film duration should not be less than 70 minutes;

Priority will be given to world premiere and international premiere films;

The photographic films shall be in 35mm format, and digital films in DCP format.

▞ Beijing Film Panorama

The "Beijing Film Panorama" section will set up the Special Exhibition, Surprise Premiere, Tribute to Masters, Focus Filmmakers, Restoration of Classics, Chinese Stories, Documentary Units and other thematic film exhibitions for different films, which will be shown to the public and industry insiders in cooperative cinemas and film academic institutions during the festival; an "Audience-selected honor" selection activity will be hold to appraise the "BIJF audience-selected film" from 8 to 10 selected films, and honorary certificates will be awarded to the winners.

▘Films to be registered shall meet the following conditions

The durations of feature films, animated films and documentary films shall not be less than 70 minutes, 60 minutes and 60 minutes respectively; 

All films should be produced after January 1, 2020 except for some of those for special exhibition sections;

The photographic films shall be in 35mm format, and digital films in DCP format.

▞ Forward Future Section

The Forward Future section aims at encouraging the spirit of film innovation, stimulating the creative vitality of the film art, discovering and introducing new film talents, and enhancing the cooperation and exchanges among young filmmakers of various countries, and sets up an honor selection program to appraise the "Most Notable Film", "Most Notable Director", "Most Notable Screenwriter", "Most Notable Actress", "Most Notable Actor" and "Most Notable Artistic Contributor” from 15- 18 selected films. Films to be selected shall be directors' first or the second feature films, regardless of genre or nationality.

 

The Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival has invited domestic and foreign heavyweight filmmakers to form an international jury of the "Forward Future" section. The jury cannot involve in the production or commercial development of the competing films. The appraisal results will be announced at the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival, and honor certificates will be presented to the winners.
