Marco Müller Joins the 5th Beijing International Film Festival with Top-notch Team
Marco Müller, a well-known Italian movie critic, historian, director and screenwriter of the documentary on film history who has been confirmed as the General Advisor of the 5th Beijing International Film Festival, has recently unveiled his first-rate advisory team composed of ten exceptional professionals in the global movie industry, including film selector, director, producer, film magazine editor, senior journalist, film critic, actor and video editor.
It is known that Mr. Chen Zhiheng in Marco Müller’s team is the only Chinese director from mainland China that has been part of the great art team behind the three major international film festivals held in Europe. As the General Secretary External Affairs in the 5th BJIFF, Mr. Chen is working with the team led by Mr. Müller on the fete’s external affairs. Meanwhile, Mr. Chen’s China-based team will be supportive of the work of Mr. Müller’s advisory team in the event.
As the General Advisor of the 5th BJIFF, Marco Müller will strive to add more international and professional elements to the event in Beijing jointly with his teammates including Chen Zhiheng.
Apart from Mr. Chen, a seasoned professional with over ten years’ experience in the organization of international film events and selector of international film festivals including Venice International Film Festival and Rome International Film Festival, Mr. Müller’s team also includes:
Alena Shumakova, an experienced consultant in international movie festivals;
Marie-Pierre Duhamel, selector for approximately 30 prominent global film festivals and thematic film exhibitions;
DeeptiD’Cunha, a distinguished curator and selector who focuses on recommending outstanding Indian films to international films shows;
Paolo Bertolin, a writer in long-standing partnership with several Italian and global media and selector of international film festivals in Venice, Rotterdam, etc.;
Diego Lerer, movie critic, managing producer and journalist, who has been nominated as consultant on Latin American movies in international film festivals;
Joumane Chahine, a film journalist, planner of film festivals, film publisher, professional film critic and expert in public media who has covered a number of international film festivals;
Martin Marquet, a publisher and producer of independent films who has distributed more than 100 independent films to the global market;
Tomita Mikiko, a film selector who has participated in the curation of several film festivals in Japan and Europe;
Babak Karimi, Iranian actor and video editor with forty years’ experience in the movie sectors of Iran, France and Italy.
In addition, the Mr. Müller’s world-class team is said to have been sending invitations in Berlin International Film Festival to potential partners for the 5th BJIFF which embarked on the team’s international tour. Relying on their rich experience in organizing international events, the team will look at potential co-production projects and seek opportunities and resources that the Beijing festival can make use of for cooperation and organization of special events. Moreover, the team will make arrangements for the delegations of well-established film businesses to the event and invite key foreign press to Beijing for coverage. In selecting and inviting candidate films, they target the best films from across the world with the focus on films to be premiered globally, hoping that these films can be distributed into the international market via Beijing. With its forceful undertaking, the splendid advisory team is bound to offer an unprecedented audio-visual feast to the global audience.
