(I) “Sino-International Film Director Dialogue” Forum

Time: April 24, 2011

Venue: Beijing Hotel

      Focusing on the basic rules in artistic film-making, eight Chinese and international film directors held in-depth discussions based on their own works on heated-debated topics including “Commerciality and Artistry of Film” and “Industrial Technology of Film, Computer Technology and Film Artistry”. Among all the great opinions stated during the discussions, one of the most impressive metaphors was that the commerciality-artistry relationship was just like the father-son relationship. The directors also shared their thoughts and concerns about new technology’s impact on cultural spirit, which fully reflected the international film industry’s understanding of its current development and prospect. The forum was conducive to expanding Chinese filmmakers’ global vision, promoting mutual understanding between domestic and international filmmakers and improving creation and production quality of our own film works.

(II) International Film Festival Presidential Forum

Time: April 24, 2011

Venue: Beijing Hotel

      Focusing on common concerns over film and film festival development, up to 21 president of international film festivals from Europe, North America, South America and Asia (including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chinese Mainland) gathered under the theme “Film Festival and Urban Influence” and exchanged views over topics such as “Diversified Development of Film in the Global Stage” and “Diversity and Artistry in Film”. The presidents shared their valuable experiences in hosting international film festivals and made suggestions at the level of how important film festival is to urban development on promoting film cooperation and exchanges, which played a vital role in promoting in-depth film cooperation and exchange as well as mutually beneficiary development in the global film industry.

(III) Sino-Europe Film Cooperation Forum

Time: April 25, 2011

Venue: Beijing Hotel

      Focusing on win-win results in Sino-Europe film cooperation, 11 speakers including government officials from the film supervision department, world famous producers, directors and lawyers shared their respective experience in film co-production in a holistic way while holding discussions on the similarities and differences between the Chinese and European film industries, in a bid to build more common ground for future development. During the discussion, the speakers not only made precise judgment about the development trend of international film, but also detailed analysis about film co-production, which promoted all-round development in Sino-Europe film cooperation and helped Chinese films go global through cooperation so as to create opportunity for the development of Chinese film against the backdrop of globalization.

(IV) Four Seminars

Time: April 25-27, 2011

Venue: Beijing Film Academy

     Focusing on the innovation and evolution of film technology, seven international film technology experts including the director of Shrek II lectured on 3D animation, visual effects, audio technology, make-ups and modeling based on their own works. More than 2000 students majoring film and television in seven universities participated in the seminars.
