Reviewing memorable years, crew of My War to appear at opening ceremony of BJIFF
Directed by Hong Kong director Oxide Pang Chun, with Liu Heng being the screenwriter, starring Liu Ye and Wang Luodan, the epic legendary war film My War was invited to participate in the 6th Beijing International Film Festival. At the scheduled time, Director Oxide Pang Chung, together with Liu Ye, Wang Luodan, Huang Zhizhong, Tony Yang, Ye Qing, Wang Longhua will appear on the red carpet for the opening ceremony.
With the Korean War as its backdrop, the film was produced in honor of the volunteer soldiers who fought boody battales and faced death unflingchingly. Sun Beichuan (Liu Ye), Meng Sanxia (Wang Luodan) and Zhangluodong (Tony Yang) go far away from home to guard the country, experience death trials, support each other, build trust and depend on each other to fight shoulder to shoulder.During their fighting days, they interpret the great camaraderie with their life, composing a battlefield story interwoven with love.
Different from his previous styles, this is the first time for Oxide Pang Chung to try a war-themed work. He said frankly that he felt uneasy trying new theme, but he was deeply moved by the courage of the soldiers, which made him to be strict with himself. He studied the screenplay, and revealed the original weaponry at the early stage of shooting to return to the real history, striving to pursue real details. Director Oxide Pang Chung hopes My War can provide inspiration to the young people.
According to information, it took 118 days to shoot My War, covering dozens of shooting sites in four counties of three provinces. During the shooting process, the crew shot night scenes under extreme weather with a temperature of minus ten-odd degrees centigrade for several times. To fully restore the real scenario of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the director made use of quite different skills to reveal the grand war scenes. Nearly one thousand amateur actors were collected to shot the scene of final combat, which will surely be sure a visual impact for the audience.
My War was produced by China Film Co., Ltd., and distributed by Emperor Motion Pictures. The crew will appear on the red carpet for the Opening Ceremony of Beijing International Film Festival on April 16. A media conference is scheduled to be held on April 17. So, stay tuned.
