Synopsis：In 1980s’ northern China, a father saves a dying little donkey and takes him home, of whom his two sons take very good care like the third brother of theirs. Yet as the donkey grows up and needs more water to quench himself in this dry village that is under constant threat of drought, villagers start to resent him as the situation deteriorates. To keep the donkey in the village, two brothers and their friends unfold a touching tug of wars with villagers and even their father.
