Synopsis
The film is based on a true story. Kong, who has come to work in Tibet for the first time, is in urgent need of an interpreter. He coincidentally comes across Jigme who has studied in the inland. Kong and Jigme develop from conflicting with each other to mutual understanding. They eventually become lifelong friends...
Director
Chen Guoxing
Chen Guoxing is a Chinese film director, screenwriter and producer. He graduated from the Performing Arts School of Beijing Film Academy. Chen Guoxing started his career as an independent big-screen director in 1987. His most prominent works include Roaring Across the Horizon, Kong Fansen, Colors of the Blind, The Next 11 Days and Major Secretary. He won multiple awards and recognitions for his film Roaring Across the Horizon, including Best Director and Best Feature Film at the 20th Golden Rooster Awards, and Best Director at the 5th Changchun Film Festival. For Kong Fansen, he won Best Director and Best Feature Film at the 2nd China Huabiao Film Awards and a special award at the 16th Golden Rooster Awards. Chen Guoxing formerly served as the deputy chair of China Film Directors' Guild, and a member of the 10th and 11th CPPCC.
Lhapal Gyal
Lhapal Gyal was born in Qinghai in 1989. A graduate from Beijing Film Academy, he is a young and promising film director and screenwriter. He was the executive director for a series of films, including Tharlo, Knife in the Clear Water, When I Was 8 Years Old and Balloon. For his feature-length debut Wangdrak’s Rain Boots, Lhapal Gyal earned multiple awards and recognitions at various domestic and international film festivals, including a Crystal Bear nomination during Generation 14Plus at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival; Best Director Award at the 12th FIRST International Film Festival; the Jury Award for Best Director at the 5th Beijing Youth Film Festival; Best New Screenplay Award at the 8th Beijing International Film Festival Forward Future Section; Best First Screenplay Award at the 29th Shanghai Film Critics Award; a Golden Firebird Award nomination in the Young Cinema Program at Hong Kong International Film Festival; and two nominations by the International Federation of Film Critics. During the production of his latest film The Great Distance Delivers Crane, Lhapal Gyal received the Most Commercial Potential Award from the WIP Venture Investment Conference at the 7th Silk Road International Film Festival and an Outstanding WIP Project Award from the WIP Venture Investment Conference at the 10th Beijing International Film Festival.
