Li Xuejian Heads Workshop & Masterclass Lineup: Cast & Crew of Roaring Across the Horizon Reunite for History and Future of Thematic Films
Li Xuejian, a famous actor, was awarded the title and medal of Reform Pioneer by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and the honor of People's Artist with Professional Excellence and Moral Integrity to promote the core values of socialism. He is a worthy Chinese leading film and television artist.
Li's first film dates back to Tianshan Mountain Trek shot in 1980. He received wide acclaim from audiences and the industry for its touching performance in Jiao Yulu ten years after starting his career. The role of Jiao Yulu engraved on the mind of countless people, and earned him the Golden Rooster Awards and the Hundred Flowers Awards for Best Actor. Jiao Yulu's down-to-earth attitude and devotion has affected Li throughout his career.

More commendably, Li has always rooted for Chinese young directors, helping them make worldwide sensations. Among the films starring him, Day Is Done (2020) directed by Zhang Dalei took the Silver Bear Award-Jury Prize-Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival; To Love Again (2022) directed by Gao Linyang carried off the Jury Prize at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. He has contributed to China's film industry by supporting brilliant sixth-generation directors and budding young filmmakers.

Over the past 40 years, Li has appeared in about 90 films and TV series, including many thematic films. His most representative work is Roaring Across the Horizon (1999) based on missiles, nuclear bombs, and the artificial satellite.
Roaring Across the Horizon tells a story of General Feng Shi and scientist Lu Guangda who lead a research force in overcoming one difficulty after another in northwest China's desert area to denote China's first atomic bomb. The film eulogizes the great contributions of the high-tech defense industry, is manifested by intelligent and hard-working people, infectiously depicts typical artistic images such as Lu Guangda and Feng Shi, reveals their inner world, and displays the lofty spirit and tremendous strength of China standing proudly among the nations of the world.

Roaring Across the Horizon has received wide acclaim from audiences and the industry since its release, inspiring filmmakers from generation to generation by the national spirit displayed in the film. Over the years, the cast & crew has been at the forefront of the film & television industry, going with China's film industry and witnessing its fruitful results.
Li Xuejian, Jury President of the 12th BJIFF—Tiantan Award, will head the Workshop & Masterclass lineup, inviting the cast & crew of Roaring Across the Horizon to review the past, look into the future, have a dialogue with the times and display the spirit of Chinese films.
The panelists will be director Chen Guoxing, screenwriter Chen Huaiguo, leading actor Li Youbin, art director Lin Chaoxiang, cinematographer Zhang Li and editor Zhou Xinxia. The moderator will be Professor Li Daoxin from Peking University.
