Jean-Luc Godard is an important director of French New Wave in French art film movement, whose career has lasted for more than half a century. In 1960, he directed the first film Breathless, which initiated his career as a director and won him the Best Director Award at the 10th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1965, he directed the film Alphaville, which won the Golden Bear at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1983, he directed the film First Name: Carmen, which won the Golden Lion at the 40th Venice International Film Festival. In 2018, he directed the film The Image Book, which won the Special Golden Palm at the 71st Cannes International Film Festival.
