Jiang Wen, a Chinese director and actor, is known for his acclaimed works such as Red Sorghum, A Woman For Two, Black Snow, Let the Bullets Fly, and Gone with the Bullets.
In 1988, Jiang Wen was nominated for Best Actor at the 8th Golden Rooster Awards for his performance in Red Sorghum. The following year, he won Best Actor at the 12th Hundred Flowers Awards for his role in A Woman For Two. In 1998, he was awarded Best Supporting Actor at the 17th Hong Kong Film Awards for his performance in The Soong Sisters. In 2010, his directorial and acting work Let the Bullets Fly received several nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards and earned him the Director of the Year Award at the China Film Directors' Guild Awards. In 2014, Jiang Wen was honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Chinese-Language Cinema Award at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival, China. In 2015, he was shortlisted for the Golden Bear Award in the main competition unit of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival for his film Gone with the Bullets.
In terms of his jury experience, in 2003, he served as a jury member in the main competition unit of the 56th Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, he served as a jury member in the main competition unit of the 70th Venice International Film Festival. In 2017, he became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar) jury. In 2018, he served as the jury president for the Golden Goblet Awards at the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival, China.
