Synopsis
Two brothers came to Tokyo, where they unexpectedly became staffs at a movie theater. From screenings with phonographs to the era of talkies, movies evolved. Two brothers sought their own "tomorrow" and established BAUS Theater. The cinema, which ventured into interesting things regardless of genre, not just movies but also rakugo, theater plays, and live performances, was born. In the movie, "death" was close at hand but at the same time, "eternity" was also close by. Through bad time, good time, and war time, BAUS theater was always there brought people joy and hope.
Director

Hokimoto
Hokimoto was born in 1992 in Japan. He graduated from Tama Art University's Department of Moving Images and Performing Arts, where he discovered film through director Shinji Aoyama, who was a professor at the university. Hokimoto worked as an assistant to such directors as Masashi Yamamoto and Ryosuke Hashiguchi. In 2016, Hokimoto made his feature film debut as director, screenwriter, and music director with Haruneko, co-produced by Shinji Aoyama and Takenori Sento. The film was in competition at the 46th International Film Festival Rotterdam. In the fall of 2022, Hokimoto's featurette film, Hadaka no Yume, was officially selected for the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival's Nippon Cinema Now section. In 2019, he formed the band Bialystocks, who signed to the established Japanese record company Pony Canyon's new label IRORI Records. In addition to the release of the group's first album Quicksand, Hokimoto has been gaining attention as a musician, performing live throughout Japan.
