Jia Zhangke, Chinese Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Writer.
Since beginning his filmmaking career in 1998, he has directed 14 feature films and numerous short films. His major works include The World, Still Life, 24 City, I Wish I knew, Mountains May Depart, Ash Is Purest White, Swimming Out Till The Sea Turns Blue, Caught By The Tides. 
In 1998, his debut feature won the Wolfgang Prize at the International Forum of New Cinema at the 48th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2006, he won the Golden Lion at the 63rd Venice International Film Festival. In 2010, he received the Leopard of Honour at the Locarno International Film Festival. In 2013, he won the award for Best Screenplay at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. In 2015, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Carrosse d'Or (Golden Coach), at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2017, Jia founded the Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival (PYIFF). The festival aims to promote and cultivate young filmmakers home and abroad.
