Tiantan Award

The 16th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) Shorts embarks on a renewed journey with a new positioning as “the first calling card for Chinese-language commercial genre films.” It is committed to building a bridge between emerging filmmakers and the industry, while bringing sustainable creative vitality to the Chinese-language film market. This year’s section focuses on emerging voices while maintaining an international perspective, showcasing the diverse possibilities of short filmmaking.
The honors section for Chinese-language works, features 16 shortlisted films. Andrew Lau serves as Jury President, with Liu Yi, Sandra Ma, Qian Zhongyuan, and Zhou You serving as jury members. Li Naiwen serves as Promoter. This year’s honors include five categories: Best Short Film, Best Narrative Breakthrough, Best Emerging Director, Most Commercial Potential, and Jury Special Mention. In addition, a special Audience Choice honor will be presented based on votes cast by festival audiences. The screening section presents a curated selection of international films, bringing together outstanding works from around the world and fostering cross-cultural exchange.
The selection of the 16th BJIFF Shorts Film Section will take place from April 16 to 18, 2026, in Beijing, China. The recipients of all honors will be officially announced at the Short Film Section Honors Ceremony.
