From August 26 to 28, the 28 projects will appear at the online negotiation platform of the BJIFF Project Pitches.
After the results of the first-round selection were announced, three jury members, namely A Mei, Liang Jing and Larry Yang immediately started to review and score the scripts of the shortlisted projects. On August 6 and 7, the jury interviewed the project teams in a one-on-one manner. In the interviews, the jury listened to the project teams' presentations, and asked the production teams about project operability, team information, budgets and goals. Eventually, the jury selected 16 projects into the final road show based on the overall performance of the projects in the script review and the presentations & communication. Meanwhile, 12 outstanding pitching projects entered the market negotiations alongside the road show projects.
The WIP projects in the Project Pitches this year are of high quality. While marvelling at the mature performance of the young film production teams, the jury had to make hard decisions due to limited places. With the concept of supporting young filmmakers and creating more opportunities for outstanding Chinese productions, upon discussion with the Organizing Committee, the jury decided to offer the WIP projects two more places for market negotiation.
The top 10 pitching projects and top 6 WIP projects shortlisted will be trained by two industry professionals on August 20, 2020. The trainers will offer project teams professional guidance in such aspects as presentation logic and promotion mode.
The lineup of trainers is as follows:

"Congratulations to the project teams shortlisted for the final-round selection. We hope they can fulfill their movie dreams with their projects to be recognized. The same expectations are also given to those projects failing to enter the final-round selection since they are also brilliant. And don't be discouraged or question the projects because of the failure to enter the final-round selection. Please maintain the impulse and original aspirations for creation, proceed with perfecting the script, and keep moving on with projects."
(Commented a jury member in communication after the second-round selection session.)
