10th BJIFF Returns with Hope, Teams Up with China Film & Huaxia Film for First Time

Due to the CCVID-19 outbreak in the first quarter of this year, the 10th BJIFF scheduled for late April was postponed. Over the months, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee led by General Secretary Xi Jinping, with the painstaking efforts of the whole nation, China has achieved significant strategic results and staged success in the fight against Covid-19 in the middle of this year. As the China Film Administration (CFA) issued a notice on July 16 for advancing the orderly reopening of cinemas amid normalized epidemic prevention and control, China's film industry entered a stage of full recovery.

To give full play to the wide and far-reaching influence of the BJIFF and boost the film industry hit hard by the epidemic, on the occasion of the opening of the 10th BJIFF, the BJIFF teamed up with China Film Co., Ltd. and Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd., two domestic top film companies, to deliver a film presentation in Beijing from August 22 to 23. The activity is aimed to integrate the market experience and project resources of the three sides, to promote the prosperity of the film industry.

"We should firm up cultural confidence, and stick to creation and innovation, to boost the confidence in industrial development and empower the aspiration for industrial development," he said. The film industry was hit hard by COVID-19 in the first half of this year. Facing the restarting market, guided by CFA, Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd. carried out a nationwide ticket presentation campaign by buying 4 million tickets and distributing them to medical workers and secondary school/college entrance examinees for free. "Next we will take successive measures to strengthen outstanding film promotion and improve targeted distribution service," said Zhao. To Chen Lianbao, Vice President of the China Film Distribution & Exhibition Association and Chairman of the Film Distribution and City Cinema Chain Committee, the support of China Film Co., Ltd. and Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd. is of extraordinary significance at the early stage of work resumption. "As two leading state-owned film enterprises, China Film Co., Ltd. and Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd. collected classics and inputting them into the market without dividends, which addressed burning film needs and effectively promoted the orderly recovery of the film industry." Li Xiaoming, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of Beijing Radio & Television Station and Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival, hoped that "the presentation will inject impetus into the film & television industry that has just recovered from the epidemic, to promote outstanding domestic and foreign films in the second half of this year, and boost market confidence."

With the core purpose of "Share the Screen, Shape the Future", the activity will promote multi-field & dimension contents such as outstanding domestic and foreign films, Cinity Cinema System and film & television shooting & production equipment, to further deepen industrial cohesion, thus stimulating market vitality to the uttermost and empowering the film industry.
