Synopsis:
In the 1960s, Beijing educated youth, Chen Zhen and Yang Ke, arrive at the Elun Prairie in Inner Mongolia to join the production team. They join the production team of the Mongolian herder, Bilige, and his daughter-in-law, Kasmai's family, and lead a herding life for several years. In the process of getting close to the wolves, Chen Zhen gradually learns about this animal with a strong curiosity, and even thinks of raising a little wolf by himself. The Mongolian people admire wolves and love the grasslands; while the Han people utilitarianly loot the land, leading to the "war" between wolves and people. The production team headed by the field director, Bao Shungui, finally launches a wolf extermination campaign, tensing up the relationship between wolves and humans...
