The 10th BJIFF
Chen Daoming to Attend BJIFF Launch Ceremony to Discuss Industrial Development with Other Filmmakers
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). The decade saw BJIFF's dream come true and numberless filmmakers go forward. Chen Daoming is one of them.
Chen was elected President of the China Film Association two years ago. With the new identity, he has racked his brains for the development of Chinese films. "How to keep Chinese films growing steadily from a 'large film country' into a 'film power' is an important topic for Chinese filmmakers," he said.
On August 22, Chen will attend the Launch Ceremony of the 10th BJIFF along with film moguls like Zhang Yimou, Huang Huilin, Sun Xianghui, Cao Yin, Fu Ruoqing, Yu Dong and Wu Jing, and delivered a speech on the development of Chinese films and the BJIFF.
Chen has stood in awe of the profession of actor and stayed loyal to it. Over the 30 years, he has played every role with heart and kept writing his film life.
To Chen, his earnestness is not about love, but about professionalism.
Chen played Wang Deqing, the adoptive father of Fang Deng (heroine) in Aftershock (2010). He handled the role capably. In the film, he showed his great love and pity for his daughter.
In Coming Home (2014), he played Lu Yanshi, a respectable Chinese intellectual of the older generation, with emotional tension.
When being asked about the definition of good films, Chen said insightfully, "A good film should tell a good story, be of literary, social and philosophical nature, have perfect expressions, lead the audience by a pair of invisible hands, have flowing scenes like water and contain no affectation."
A Decade Dream for Common Development. The Launch Ceremony of the 10th BJIFF will be there for you on August 22.
