As time flies, we keep forging ahead. Going into its tenth year, the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) falls on August 22-29, 2020. To mark the 10th anniversary, we have specially planned the BJIFF 10th Anniversary Forum, consisting of ten forums. Specifically, the high-profile Chinese Film Industry Summit will kick off at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center on August 27, 2020. The 10 forums will take place online and offline, and be broadcast in full or part on platforms such as xuexi.cn, CCTV News, yangshipin.cn, cctv.com, cnr.cn, btime.com, iQIYI and ixigua.com, with specific broadcast time subject to the schedule of the platforms.
A Dozen of Industry Insiders Gather Together to Discuss the Industry’s Future
The Chinese Film Industry Summit has invited a dozen of leaders and established filmmakers in the film industry, ranging from actors, screenwriters, and directors to cinema managers, and heads of film and television production companies across various sections of film and television production, to explore the industry’s opportunities and challenges as well as its future. Taking the form of keynote speeches and roundtable discussions, the forum comprises two sessions in the morning and afternoon, respectively. With the themes of “Content is King” – Tell Wonderful China Stories, while Exploring the Commercialization of Mainstream Films and Genre Trends of Chinese Films in the new Era, the forum will witness deep analysis, interpretation and discussions concerning the hot issues in the film market.

Ya Ning, CEO of iQIYI Motion Pictures, Zhang Ji, screenwriter of My People, My Country, Li Ning, Senior Vice President of New Classics Media Group and CEO of New Classics Pictures, Li Weiqiang, Chairman of Poly Pictures, Gong Geer, screenwriter and producer of The Wandering Earth, and Zhao Linshan, director of The Assassins will participate in the discussions as guests. Liu Pan, Researcher, Film and TV Department, Chinese National Academy of Arts and Ph.D of Cinematography, will act as the moderator to share his viewpoints.
Based on the current new situation and new environment, the forum will provide case sharing from a creative perspective and explore how to commercialize mainstream themes that carry core values and how to convert stories with great national significance into more appealing films. In recent years, the genres of Chinese films have also been broadened, other than surge in box office earnings. Where will Chinese films be heading developed in the new era? The second session of the Chinese Film Industry Summit will focus on the theme “Genre Trends of Chinese Films in the new Era”. From the perspective of film categories, the forum reviews the development of film genres in China, and searches for new inspirations for the development and creation of China’s films in various genres..
