Chinese Film Industry Summit: “Content is King”– Tell Wonderful China Stories, while Exploring the Commercialization of Mainstream Films Held as Scheduled
  2020, a year in which people across China are united as one to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, will be destined to be written into the annals of history.   Against this special background, the 10th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) Chinese Film Industry Summit kicked off at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center in Huairou District on August 27.
  At the beginning of the forum, Ai Dongyun, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Chief Editor of Beijing Radio & Television Station and Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the 10th BJIFF, gave a speech to support and encourage the event.
  Zhou Baolin, Vice General Manager of China Film Co., Ltd. and Chairman of China Film Studio Co., Ltd., delivered an important speech during which he congratulated and encouraged the forum!

  Ya Ning, President of iQIYI Motion Pictures, delivered a speech. In recent years, iQIYI has enjoyed a fast-paced development. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of film companies were eking out a living. However, iQIYI set multiple industry records in online movies in this period. Ya shared the relevant knowledge about iQIYI’s content creation.
  As a screenwriter, Zhang Ji’s American Dreams in China and My People, My Country are uniquely familiar to the audience, and his Leap which will be soon released during the National Day period is even worth looking forward to watching. Zhang shared the knowledge about how to create content from the perspective of content creation.
  Mr. Li Ning, Senior Vice President of New Classics Media Group and CEO of New Classics Pictures, told about the development and operations of multiple popular film projects led by him in recent years. He shared his insights on the path of “new mainstream blockbusters” from multiple aspects such as the diversification of genres, personalization of characters, and structural innovation.
  As an important part of the 10th BJIFF theme forums, the Chinese Film Industry Summit focused on current hot topics of China’s film industry, attracting senior exports and cinema managers both at home and abroad. Through keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues and discussions, the forum connected cinema circuits, film companies, media, content service providers, online streaming platforms and other stakeholders in the industry, providing an international exchange platform for Chinese filmmakers. By facilitating discussions on film industry reform and upgrade, and promoting sustainable and sound development of the entire industry, the forum played a critical role in achieving high quality growth for China’s film industry, contributing to the China’s goal of building a strong movie sector.

Although wonderful stories can be good themes, they must showcase a national level, national symbolic significance and positive energy, and conform to socialist values. Moving stories can maximize the emotions of the audience. For example, The Eight Hundred is a real mainstream commercial film, which is about a battle for national defense.
