Forums and Workshop & Masterclass Staged, Opening Ceremony of Beijing Film Market Launched
On the second day after the opening ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), various forums and Workshop & Masterclass were held as scheduled. The following is our review of the main events and activities on Day 2.

On the morning of September 22, the 11th BJIFF China Film Development Forum, Splendor of a Century--Thematic Film Forum on the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, co-organized by the China National Film Museum and the China Film Association, was held at Beijing Radio & Television Station.
 
Wang Jiequn, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Director of the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, and Vice Chairman & Secretary-General of the 11th BJIFF Organizing Committee, Chen Ling, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Head of the China National Film Museum, Song Zhiqin, Deputy Director of the Film Art Center of CFLAC, and Fu Ruoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of China Film Group Corporation, attended and delivered speeches. Yin Hong, professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University and Vice Chairman of the China Film Association and Chun Ni, hostess of Beijing Radio & Television Station, were invited to act as the moderators at the forum.

At the China Film Development Forum, some senior artists, industry representatives and cast & crew representatives conducted discussions respectively. The forum reviewed the classics to salute film veterans and film art, aiming to power China's film industry.

  Timmy Yip Masterclass
Timmy Yip Masterclass: Attention Paid to Natural Artistic Conception and Temporal Integration
 
On the morning of September 22, the 11th BJIFF Timmy Yip Masterclass was broadcast in “Online BJIFF” at iQIYI.  Mr. Timmy Yip, a world-renowned film and stage art director, costume designer and visual artist, was present on the site. Focusing on the theme "Rebirth of Chinese Traditional Aesthetics", he shared his insights on Chinese aesthetics and traditional culture in combination with his years of cross-border creative experience, and enthusiastically answered the questions from the netizens and the media.
 
At the scene of the Masterclass, Timmy Yip reviewed the creation process of his films Rouge, Medea and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, analyzing the topics including the relationship between time and film, and the spiritual dimension of Chinese culture. As the podium uniforms designer of the Chinese delegation for the Tokyo Olympics, he shared his thoughts on how to express Chinese elements during the design. With regard to the aesthetic tendency in the future, he believes the film industry is now in a transitional and irreplaceable period. Meanwhile, he encourages young people to build their own aesthetics, feel  and do what they really like.

The 11th Beijing International Film Festival –  Industry Forum of Game-Based Animated Films Section
 
On the morning of September 22, the 11th BJIFF – Game-Based Animated Films Section took place at State Production Base of China Film Group. It was guided by the Organizing Committee Office of the BJIFF and the Publicity Department of Beijing Huairou District Committee of the Communist Party of China, hosted by Shanghai Qianjing Cultural Media Co., Ltd., co-organized by the Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center of Huairou District and produced by Poly Pictures Investment Co., Ltd. The attending guests include Cui Yan, Director of BJIFF Operation Center at Beijing Radio & Television Station, and Executive Deputy Director of the BJIFF Organizing Committee Office; Lyu Xiaoguo, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of Beijing Huairou District Committee of the Communist Party of China; Yu Deli, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center of Huairou District, and Party Secretary of Yangsong Town. With the theme "Youth Flashes in E-sports Era", the forum featured three theme sharing sessions, one roundtable forum and seven hot topics. All the attending guests delivered the keynote speeches. They started from the origin of film and focused on the form of games, animation and e-sports to discuss how to build IP as a whole and seek a new path for the common development of the film and e-sports.

  College Student Film Festival Launched

On the afternoon of September 22, the launching ceremony of the BJIFF – the 28th College Student Film Festival was held at the Middle Inside-Out Theatre and live broadcast on Kuaishou (Kwai) and Movie Channel convergence media platform.  The leaders of Beijing Normal University and the Organizing Committee of the College Student Film Festival, as well as the guests such as Huang Huilin, Tao Yuling, Xu Fan, Xu Yajun, Zhao Tianyu and Chen Duling attended the ceremony. At the event, the organizing committee announced the schedule of events and activities, introduced 34 excellent domestic films shortlisted for the “Flashing Youth” section and held the departure ceremony of “Films to Countryside – Film Education Aid in 100 Villages by New Era College Students". A special opening film was screened and the cast & crew such as Xu Fan, Zhao Tianyu and Xu Yajun had in-depth discussion with the audience about the film after the screening.

On the afternoon of September 22, the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) – China Film Investment and Financing Summit took place in Beijing. The Summit, hosted by the BJIFF Organizing Committee and organized by the China Film Fund, Beijing Culture Industry Investment and Financing Association, Bank of Beijing and Online Film Market Co., Ltd., was attended by Wang Jiequn, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Director of the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, Zhang Pimin, Chairman of the China Film Fund, Sun Baolin, Director of Copyright Protection Center of China, Dong Dianyi, Deputy Director of State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center of Beijing Municipality, Niu Tianxiang, Chairman of Beijing Cultural Creativity Board Development Co., Ltd., and Dai Wei, Assistant to the President of Bank of Beijing, as well as experts, scholars and representatives of top companies in the film industry.
China Film Investment and Financing Summit – Film & Television Investment and Financing and Cultural Power Development
 
The 2021 Report on Survey of China Film Investment and Financing was released at the summit. Wang Jiequn, Zhang Pimin, Sun Baolin, Dong Dianyi, Niu Tianxiang and Dai Wei jointly released the "Film+" Copyright Pledged Loan. Centering on high-quality copyright of films, the loan is an upgraded version of film and financial service offering with emphasis on the film and its deritatives. It has four prominent features, namely "new" cooperation mode, "full” industrial coverage, "great” innovation and "excellent” service quality that guarantee the targeted provision of financial services, thus boosting the financing activities of film enterprises.

On September 22, the 11th BJIFF – China Film Investment and Financing Summit took place in Beijing. The summit was hosted by the BJIFF Organizing Committee and organized by China Film Fund, Beijing Culture Industry Investment and Financing Association, Bank of Beijing and Online Film Market Co., Ltd. Yonghe Wenchuang Sub-branch and Shijingshan Sub-branch of Bank of Beijing National Cultural and Financial Cooperation Demonstration Zone signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Dengfeng International Media Co., Ltd and Beijing Shengshi Shunjing Cultural Media Co., Ltd. respectively. In the future, Bank of Beijing will provide such enterprises with all-round innovative solutions on "film +" copyright pledged loan.
 
The 25-year Bank of Beijing has been keeping the pace with Beijing with its superior resources to promote the deep integration of film industry and finance. The Opening Reception for Beijing Film Market: “Night of the Bank of Beijing” and Honorary Selection of Chinese Film Industry was held successfully on the evening of September 22. Zhang Pimin, Chairman of the China Film Fund, Zhou Maofei, Secretary of Party Committee and President of Beijing Cultural Investment Development Group Co., Ltd., Xu Bo, Chairman of China Culture Industry Investment Fund of Funds Management Co., Ltd., Dai Wei, Assistant to the President of Bank of Beijing and Corporate Business Director, Rao Shuguang, President of the China Film Critics Association, Yu Jianhong, Vice-president of Beijing Film Academy (BFA), Cui Yan, Director of BJIFF Operation Center of Beijing Radio & Television Station and Zhu Yuqing, Founder of Online Film Market Co., Ltd. as well as other guests, leaders and representatives of film and television companies have attended the opening reception.   Women's Voice Section of Beijing Film Panorama 
  Hard Love Screened
 
The film Hard Love in the Women's Voice Section of Beijing Film Panorama was screened today. The film which records the emotional lives of five single women in city received enthusiastic laughters and applauses in the theater. Director Dong Xueying and producer Ruby L. J. Chen also attended the post-screening exchange and shared the reason for shooting this film, the production process and the difficulties they encountered during the creation.

When asked how to deal with the relationship between the shooting object and the camera, Director Dong Xueying frankly explained that she intended to create a free space for the shooting object. She also described the shooting state of herself and the film crew.
 
From more than 300 hours of stock footage to one hour and a half of completed film, Hard Love shows the audience the delicacy and professionalism of a documentary from women’s perspective. The film will be screened in cinemas in mid-November for more audiences!

On the evening of September 22, the opening ceremony of Ukrainian Film Week & the Screening of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors was held at Huaxia Cinema (FUNF). At the scene of opening ceremony, the video of Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine, sending her congratulations was played. Mrs. Leschynska Zhanna, chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in China and Bian Jian, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Chief Editor of Beijing Radio & Television Station and Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the BJIFF, also attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. After the opening ceremony, the guests together with the audience enjoyed the opening film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.

Film Carnival Launched Officially
 
The Film Carnival of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), hosted by Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival and Huairou District People’s Government and organized by the Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center of Huairou District and Yangsong Town People’s Government of Huairou District, was officially launched. The carnival will start on September 19 and end on October 6, where a total of 46 interactive activities of film technologies are organized, spanning the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday, to bring a brand-new experience for the tourists and citizens.
