Highlights at Gong Li Masterclass, Awards Ceremony of BJIFF Beijing Film Market Project Pitches Successfully Concluded
Four days have passed since the opening ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). Some events and activities were carried out as scheduled such as Gong Li Masterclass, awards ceremony of project pitches and post-screening activities. Some wonderful events and activities at the BJIFF today are introduced as follows. 
 
Gong Li Masterclass Launched

On September 24, Gong Li, Jury President of Tiantan Award, officially launched the Gong Li Masterclass with the theme"Cinema and Us”. As the most representative Chinese actress at home and abroad, Gong Li, Jury President of the 11th BJIFF Tiantan Award”, invited the guest panelists Lou Ye, Zhang Songwen and Mark Chao to share her unique insights and glorious moments of life on the performance, film, role and her experiences on the international stage. Gong Li Masterclass will be broadcast on Beijing Satellite TV at 9:45PM on September 26, and on the platforms such as xuexi.cn, yangshipin.cn, and iQIYI at 10:00AM on September 27.

On September 24, the Pizza Hut and Film Project Pitches Awards Ceremony at the 11th BJIFF concluded successfully. The project pitches started the collection at the end of December 2020. After more than nine months of first and second rounds of review and training, 17 projects were selected for the final round road show, Get Better Day by Day won the “Special Award”; King of the Old City won the “Projects with Greatest Commercial Potential”; A Raging Rhino Ran Down Gulou Street That Night won the “Best Creativity Award”;  She Will Fight to the End won the “Best Original Script Award”. The WIP project One and Four won the “Most Investment Value Project Award”; the WIP project In Another Town won the “Most Potential Production Team Award”. The projects King of the Old City and Get Better Day by Day won the "MPA Award" and "MPA APSA Award" respectively.

The BJIFF Beijing Film Market Project Pitches has ushered in the tenth year and we will continue to focus on the development of filmmakers, care about industrial creation and contribute to the promotion of high-quality film projects.

The main visual poster of the 11th BJIFF was demonstrated on JieDian’s 3,000 ad screens in the street, covering nearly 20 cities across the country. Meanwhile, it was also launched on 300 ad screens in 100 AiHuiShou offline stores.

On September 24, the screening of Beijing Film Market ushered into the second day and six films were screened for the buyers including Chupacabra, Confucian Dream, A Man Called Ahok, Night of the Kings, Namo and River of Salvation. Different styles of films received enthusiastic feedback from the buyers and guests. The market screen lasted for three days till September 25.

To the Bright Side,  the “first domestic animated film adapted from original picture book” in the “Premieres” section of the 11th BJIFF “Beijing Film Panorama”, was screened Lumiere Pavilions Fangcaodi. The film was "sincerely" presented by seven independent animation directors, and the seven cozy short films with different styles jointly demonstrated the theme of love and beauty. Producer Zhu Yantong and directors Lan Xiya, Li Nianze, Yu Kun, Chen Chen and Liu Maoning attended the post-screening exchange and shared with the enthusiastic audience the origin of the film project and how the seven short films were sincerely created by seven filmmakers into a harmonious and exquisite animation film. 
 
Beyond the Skies, the film shortlisted for the 11th BJIFF “Tiantan Award”, was screened at Poly International Cinema, Tian’anmen, Beijing. Director Liu Zhihai, Chief Supervisor Xu Xiaoming, Screenwriter Zhou Jiali, Photographer Mi Xinjun, the Cast Chen Weixin, Nie Jinquan and Lin Yi, Executive Producer Wei Xiaofei and other cast & crew members were present at the site to exchange with the audience and guests. 
 
In addition, the film Barbarian Invasion in "Beijing Film Panorama" section was screened in the China Film Archive Art Cinema today and the post-screening exchange also received enthusiastic applauses.

On September 24, the day after the closing of the first “BJIFF TALENTS”, the supervisor Leste Chen, as the producer of BJIFF TALENTS, posted an affectionate post on Weibo about his thought and experience during the participate of the BJIFF TALENTS. His post was full of the recognition and encouragement for the young directors, the affirmation and appreciation for the BJIFF TALENTS as well as his sincere wishes and blessings for the future of Chinese films. 
 
He said, ”It’s the real significance of BJIFF TALENTS to plant a seed of new life for the film. With the time goes by, the talents of young directors and the joint efforts of film festival teams will eventually get thrived.” Through the BJIFF TALENTS, a seed of film has been planted which will also broaden the space and reserve more possibilities for the future development of films. The BJIFF will also continue to support new forces in film industry, so that more excellent films and filmmakers will be seen by more people.
 
“Bright Banner · Glorious Lights and Shadows"
Revolutionary Film Public Welfare Screening and Exhibition Launched

On September 24, the “Bright Banner · Glorious Lights and Shadows” Revolutionary Film Public Welfare Screening and Exhibition was officially launched. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, four revolutionary films, Eternity in Flames, Song of Youth, Roaring Across the Horizon and The Unfailing Radio Wave, will be screened in the Big Screen Theatre of China Science and Technology Museum from September 24 to 28. Meanwhile, an immersive film experience exhibition will be held to integrate the films with the learning and education of the Party history, so as to lead the audience to review the red classics and experience the memories of the era.
 
During the series activities of “celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China”, the China Film Archive also set up an exhibition area where the tables and chairs during the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in a shikumen building, Shanghai were restored, and the documents and photos of The Creation of A World, the film dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Part of China, were arranged, so that the audience could follow the call of the revolutionary spirit on the journey of lights and shadows, inherit the revolutionary gene and continue the revolutionary bloodline.

On September 23, 2021, the “Ever Shining Cinema" Public Benefit Activities at the 11th BJIFF was held at the Beijing School for the Blind and 15 volunteer teachers and students from Communication University of China screened the barrier-free film, The climbers for 60 blind students. Before the screening, the volunteers of “Ever Shining Cinema" interacted with the school students themed with the BJIFF and received enthusiastic responses on the site. The volunteers introduced the knowledge related to the film in short stories, reviewed the development process of the BJIFF and carried out the interactive quiz on the knowledge of the film festival.  In the activity with both entertainment and knowledge, the students further understood the films and deepened their knowledge about the BJIFF.
