Following on from the previous seven versions, Film Market at the BJIFF has been developed into an all-round communication platform dominated by leading film and television companies and deeply participated in by senior companies across the full film & TV industry chain covering capital, media and technology. In 2017, the 7th BJIFF hosted 26 Film Market events and activities, including “The Wave of Paid Knowledge” theme activity hosted by Chief Entertainment Executive and Band Entertainment, “Heroes Ignore Sources–The Chinese New Directors Come from Different Background” by Beijing KAI Pictures Co., Ltd., “China Film and Television Financial Innovation Summit” by Far East Horizon and Entgroup, “Focusing on the Present and Future of the Alliance Between Chinese and Australian Film Industry” by Saints Entertainment Co., Ltd., “New Content, the Future Is Coming” by Beijing New Studio Media Co., Ltd., and “Cloudwood Intellectual Property Forum” by Beijing Cloudwood Co., Ltd. The Film Market events and activities of the 8th BJIFF will take place from April 18 to 20, 2018 at the Beijing International Hotel. They will continue to bring together upstream and downstream companies across the full film industry chain to provide an outlook of hot topics related to domestic and international film markets in 2018 and explore the development trend of the industry.

In just the past year, the overall box office amounted to 55.9 billion yuan in the Chinese film market, including 30.1 billion yuan for Chinese films, representing approximately 54% of the total. The highlights that are worthy of our attention included the mainstream film Wolf Warriors 2, which took the top spot with 5.68 billion yuan in box office; Angels Wear White, Dahufa and other films, which adopted ground-breaking expression in creation; and literary films and documentaries such as Seventy-Seven Days and Twenty Two, which garnered over 100 million yuan in box office, a rare occurrence.

For the new year, as the Net generation is becoming the mainstream audience of the film market and the Chinese film industry has made further advances in talent, capital, technology, international cooperation and other aspects, we will certainly face new changes in content creation, production, distribution and marketing, which will put forward new propositions on the whole film industry chain and marks the focus of the Film Market events and activities at the 8th BJIFF.

In addition to solving puzzles plus exchanges to advance together, the events and activities will also satisfy the promotional needs of parties for their own brands, businesses and projects, and offer diversified solutions covering project roadshows, enterprise launches, salons and other events and activities, providing a platform for their in-depth market development and cooperation.

The Film Market events and activities of the 8th BJIFF has now been fully launched. We expect outstanding companies in marketing, finance, derivative, net content, We Media and other domains come together to explore more possibilities for the Chinese film industry at this year’s events and activities, so as to witness the growth of the Chinese film market together.
