Recommendation Meeting of Poland Film Industry 2018

  Polish films have been taking an important position in the world film history. Trois Couleurs Director Kieslowski, The Pianist Director Polanski, Las Katyński Director Wajda, A Year of the Quiet Sun Director Zanussi are all from Poland.

  In recent years, Poland films are frequently winning important awards in top-notch film festivals. Ida won the 2015 Oscar Best Foreign Language Film. Loving Vincent won the Best Anime Film of 2017 Shanghai International Film Festival, and was introduced into China harvesting wide applause. Some excellent films of Poland including anime films have reached international top-notch level in terms of production level and artistic level. But for Chinese film production companies, distribution companies and filmmakers, the Poland film industry is still a relatively strange domain.

  2018 ushers in the 100th anniversary of Poland independence. To host the 2018 Poland Film Industry Recommendation at the Film Market of Beijing International Film Festival shall open a door for us to understand Poland films and cooperate with Polish filmmakers. During this recommendation activity, Director of Polish Film Institute, Head of Film Commission Poland, Director of Warsaw Film Festival, and Polish filmmaker representatives will be present to carry out zero-distance communications with the Chinese filmmakers.

  6. Demonstration of Poland’s latest films and production dynamics, and discussion of possibilities of film introduction and co-production

In recent years, Poland films are frequently winning important awards in top-notch film festivals. Ida won the 2015 Oscar Best Foreign Language Film.

Polish anime film Loving Vincent was introduced into China harvesting wide applause. The photo is taken at the film production site, with 125 worldwide artists being invited to jointly complete the work.

Poland boasts of advantageous co-production policies, professional filmmaking talents and abundant shooting scenes, attracting plenty of international film production teams. The well-known director Steven Spielberg shot Schindler's List in Poland in 1993, and then shot Bridge of Spies in 2014.

  Introduction of the recommendation meeting’s organizers

  Host: Polish Film Institute

  Polish Film Institute is the administration body of Poland’s national film fund, which has a yearly investment budget of nearly 34 million euros (about 270 million yuan) for providing comprehensive aid and support for Polish film production (including international co-production), film education, and promotion & publicity.

  Co-organizer: Film Commission Poland

  Promote Poland and its shooting locations worldwide, and provide various services for international film production in Poland.

  Co-organizer: Warsaw Film Festival

  The most influential international film festival in East Europe, one of the 15 A-category film festivals recognized by International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF)

  One of the initiators of China-East Europe Film Promotion Project Its film festival president Stafan Laudyn have been invited to participate in Beijing International Film Festival several times and host relevant themed activities.

  One of the initiators of China-East Europe Film Promotion Project, hosting “Walking with Eastern Europe Film Workers” Workshop several times during Film Market of Beijing International Film Festival This project aims to enhance the communication and exchange between Chinese and East European filmmakers, facilitating cooperation in respect of co-production, distribution, and film festival participation.

  Registration details

  Registration requirements: Those film production companies, distribution companies, agent company representatives, producers, filmmakers or directors intending to cooperate with Poland in terms of co-production, assistant-shooting, introduction, distribution, post-production, main creators and film festival participation are welcome to participate in the recommendation activities. Due to location restriction, each company can only enroll 1-2 persons.
