Business Attraction of the 18th BJIFF Film Market Launched

  As an annual event of the international film & television cultural industry, the 18th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will be opened on April 15th, 2018. Notably, the business attraction of the high-profile Film Market has been officially launched.

  In 2017, the box office amounted to 55.9 billion yuan in China, representing a 13.45 percent year-on-year increase, the growth rate is far beyond countries in the rest of the world. In the context of the prosperity of the film industry in China, this year’s Exhibition will continue to make its contributions to the development of the Chinese film industry as a professional film event, with the purpose of “driving transactions through exhibition, promoting cooperation through exchange”.

  The Exhibition of the 7th BJIFF Film Market attracted a total of 257 domestic and international film & television companies and agencies to participate, including 74 international exhibitors from the US, German, Italy, Australia, Israel, Canada, Spain and other regions.   The types of exhibitors participating in the BJIFF Film Market have become increasingly rich. In addition to predominant production companies, a large amount of related enterprises from such areas from investment and financing, advertising and marketing, post production, distribution, screening, and legal service are also popping up to the film market. The data shows, among the exhibitors participating in the 2017 BJIFF Film Market, production companies accounted for 37%, copyright and agencies 11%, film & television technology companies 10%, marketing firms 7%, distribution companies 6%, financial institutions and legal service 3% each, and other businesses such as screening 23%, our exhibitors basically covering the full film industry chain.
