The Project Pitches of the 8th Beijing International Film Festival Film Market, after over four months of two rounds of fierce selection including first review and review, have selected the top ten projects out of 722 projects, and been ready to go. The final review of the 8th Project Pitches will invite the famous director Ning Hao, famous screenwriter and director Mei Feng, and the famous producer Liu Kailuo to serve as final judges.
The final review jury composed of the three significant Chinese filmmakers has already begun its intense review work. They will make guidance and comment on the top 10 projects one by one on April 18 at the Final Road Show site of the 8th BJIFF Project Pitches. Finally, they will select four awards for the Project Pitches and two international promotion awards this year.
In the past six years, the BJIFF Project Pitches have been searching for high quality Chinese-language genre films, supporting the excellent young creation talents, accumulating the fresh power for Chinese-language genre films, and creating a Chinese-language film pitch platform with an international sight. At the same time, the Film Market Project Pitches are also constantly making improvement and growing in the areas of selection, training, supporting, incubation, negotiation, tracking, and display. The tutors of this Project Pitches training will invite the senior industry producer, Ms. Fu Jia, Director of “Fresh Green Scheme”, and Mr. Wang Qinan, the famous producer, director and scriptwriter. The two tutors will conduct one-on-one coaching on the top ten projects on April 16.
The two tutors will provide the progressive sorting and guidance for the project side in terms of script creation, project implementation, project elaboration, etc., and lift the comprehensive level of the top ten projects in an all-round manner. The well-polished top ten projects will compete for the “Special Award”, “Best Original Screenplay Award”, “Award for the Greatest Commercial Potential” and “Award for the Greatest Creativity” at the Final Road Show site of the Film Market Project Pitches on April 18. In addition, the final review judges will select two projects from the four award-winning projects to be awarded the “International Promotion Award” and the projects winning the “International Promotion Award” will be exhibited at the internationally renowned film festival this year.
Moreover, the projects winning the four major awards of Project Pitches will continue to compete for the “MPA Award” and “APSA Award” of the Motion Picture Association of America in the afternoon of April 19. The award-winning projects will travel to Los Angeles of the US and Brisbane of Australia, respectively, for international exchanges and training.
