The Ode to Spring--Large-sized Film Symphony Concert is scheduled to be held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts at 19:30, April 18, 2018.
This film concert hosted by Beijing TV Station (BTV) during the 8th Beijing International Film Festival will see a super-star array composed by China Film Philharmonic Orchestra. A total of 120 performers will present a 90-minute visual and audio feast, offering the audience perfect artistic experience with the most classical or popular Chinese and foreign movies containing brilliant film music and shocking visual and audio pictures.
The repertoire includes Ode to Heroes from the classic revolutionary movie as Heroic Sons and Daughters, Ushering in the Spring to Change the World adapted from a Peking Opera song in the legendary movie The Taking of Tiger Mountain, the heroic and mournful song Yearning for Comrade-in-Arms from the movie Visitors On The Icy Mountain, the cheerful song Our Life Is Full of Sunshine from the movie A Sweet Life which witnessed the daily changes since reform and opening-up, the Oscar music Moonlight Lover from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the vigorous song Shaolin, Shaolin from the popular movie Shaolin Temple, the revolutionary romantic song A Lake So Blessed, the song Ocean Is My Home related to overseas Chinese sentiments, the childhood nostalgia song Let’s Paddle Together, and Bid Farewell from the movie My Memories of Old Beijing. These songs will bring about various sentiments and inspirations for us.
There are also some songs from excellent films since reform and opening-up, and the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, including the representative songs singing highly of the great history of Chinese people from such movies as The Founding of a Republic, The Founding of a Party, and The Founding of An Army, as well as such homemade films that demonstrate China’s national power and military merits as Wolf Warriors 2 and Operation Red Sea. The repertoire also includes the theme song of Hong Kong’s martial arts movie The Grandmaster and such popular domestic films in recent years as Lost In Thailand, Monster Hunt, and such animated movies as Big Fish & Begonia and Monkey King: Hero is Back, and the theme song of the documentary film Masters in Forbidden City. With strikingly vivid styles and abundant & innovative music presentations, these music products demonstrate the robust vitality and their artistic charm of keeping abreast with the times of Chinese homemade films in recent years.
There are also such classic overseas movie songs as Cinema Paradiso, The Legend of 1900, Brave Heart, Scent of A Woman, and Kikujir? no natsu. The song of the movie Hot Pursuit introduced into China during 1970s-1980s will also be included. These classic foreign film music will not only remind us of the memories and stories related to films, but also demonstrate China’s cultural opening-up and exchange achievements in the past 4 decades.
Ode to Spring--Large-sized Film Symphony Concert will be directed by the well-known conductor Peng Jiapeng. The well-known violin player Xue Wei will join wholeheartedly. More teams and individuals including West End Tiron and Finger Angel will also take part. Cellist Na Mula will play The Legend of 1900 and Singer Li Yugang will sing Bid Farewell from My Memories of Old Beijing. The most classic, abundant and refreshing film music fantasy show is here!
