In recent years, the blockbusters occupy the big screen and present a shocking audio-visual feast to audiences. From Avatar in early years, to Ready Player One just screened, from the fantasy comedy Monster Hunt to Operation Red Sea, a good film to promote positive energy...... all kinds of stories in different genres couldn’t be produced without the support of film technology. The science and technologies become the film’s “dream messenger”.

　　In the field of commercial films, special effects play an absolute and decisive role. Wonderful plays with excellent special effects are not only the pursuit of every filmmaker, but also one of important reasons for the popularity of Hollywood blockbusters. For example, The Lord of the Rings 3, set the Oscar Academy Awards record for most awards won, is nearly made by special effects completely. Highly-acclaimed animation Coco is also assisted by the special effect team in the whole production process. All these inspire Chinese films. For example, it seems that there is no special effects in Detective Chinatown 2, but nearly 500 special effect lens are implied in the film, which is a work result of seven special effect companies. This film brings excellent sensational experience to audiences through details.

　　The importance of film technology is self-evident to the film. Understanding the development of worldwide film technology becomes our present goal to develop Chinese films.

　　As one of four forums at the Beijing International Film Festival, the International Digital Cinema Technology Forum will invite Chinese and international film gurus to discuss the industrialization of film production and development of Chinese film technology from the perspective of film production, with a view to boosting Chinese films to scale new summits.

　　This forum invites eminent figures of film technology both at home and abroad. For example, Mr. Xie Ning, Vice President of Base FX, the largest film special effect and animation company in China and Asia is invited.

　　Mr. Xie Ning is not only the Vice President of Base FX, but also acts as the Deputy Director of CPPA, and Councilor of Previs Society Asia. He will deliver a speech titled “The Composition of Film Industry Production System and Revolution”. Taking Detective Chinatown 2 as an example, he will introduce the composition of film industry production system, and explore the revolution of film industry process brought by visual effect technology and its influence to the industrialization of Chinese films.

　　Mr. Chris Godfrey is another prominent guest, who is an Australian visual effect director nominated for the Golden Globe Awards twice and Oscar Academy Awards twice. Mr. Chris Godfrey is a senior filmmaker, with representative works such as Hacksaw Ridge, The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!, The Lord of the Rings and Babe. He will comprehensively introduce the production of high-quality special effect films from the perspective of technological measures of film visual effect. He hopes to provide world’s leading visual effect services to Chinese films and help excellent Chinese directors to realize their artistic concepts.

　　Mr. Wang Yaming, Technology Director of Sony (China) Professional System Group Innovation Business Development will also attend this technology forum. As a professional engaged in broadcasting sector for 38 years, Mr. Wang will elaborate the application and development prospect of high-tech from the perspective of professional film production, such as 4k, 8K and HFR.

　　Mr. Anthony LaMolinara, a famous American film director, will bring his extensive experience in animation films for many years to this forum. As an animation director and chief animator, Anthony participated in production of many well-known films to Chinese audiences such as Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Hollow Man, Stuart Little and Toy Story 3. He also participated in the pre-stage development of Avatar. Due to his excellent work, Anthony LaMolinara won the 77th Oscar Best Special Effects Director, and appointed as the judge of Oscar Best Foreign Language Film, Best Anime Film, Best Animated Short Film, and Best Short Film.

　　Mr. Alain Desrochers, a Canadian director, will attend the forum. Alain won many Canadian film wards. Among his works, the Bon Cop Bad Cop 2 is the highest-grossing film in Quebec cinema history, Canada. He was also nominated for Canada Film & TV Awards. At this forum, he will introduce the application of digital technology to action films.

　　In addition, Mr. Gao Pengdong, Co-founder and Vice President of Land High Tech, Doctor of Engineering, Associate Researcher with Communication University of China High-capacity Computing Center will attend this forum as well. Land High Tech co-founded by Mr. Gao is a high-tech group engaged in Internet, film & TV media and cloud computing. Mr. Gao is also a researcher in computer application, Internet new media and other related areas. He was named in Jiangsu Province Innovation Team Scheme in 2013 and Five Batches of Talent Project in publicity and culture area by the Tianjin government in 2017.

　　The International Digital Cinema Technology Forum of the 8th Beijing International Film Festival will be held at Beijing International Hotel on April 18, 2018, with the theme of “constructing an industrialized production system and forging new-era film masterpieces”.
