On April 18th, the Sino-India Shooting Location Promotion, one of the series activities of the highlight of the 9th BJIFF--“Indian Film Week”, was held in Function Room 8, Beijing International Hotel. The activity aims to strengthen communication and cooperation between Chinese and Indian films and cultures and deepen Chinese audiences’ understanding of the neighboring country’s film culture.
The activity is composed of three parts. First, Zhang Dongxu, Deputy Director of the Haidian District Convergence Media Center, promoted the cultural and creative industry of Haidian District. Haidian’s film and TV cultural industry has a profound historical accumulation and is home to a number of relevant key and core departments that have been growing with the People’s Republic of China which was founded 70 years ago, including Beijing Film Academy, China Central Newsreel & Documentary and China Film Group Corporation. In addition to numerous art research institutes and key enterprises, Haidian’s film and TV industry has formed an “industry-university-research cooperation” network. With the construction of Zhongguancun Science Park, Haidian’s film and TV industry has risen abruptly based on its accumulated strength and is entering into the new chapter of high-quality, leap-frog development.
Wang Qingjun, Deputy Director of Beijing Huairou District Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center, said that Huairou District has gathered 400 to 500 film and TV related enterprises which have produced more than 2,800 films and TV series. Huairou is conveniently located, only 500 meters from Exit 15 of the Beijing-Chengde Expressway. The Beijing-Shenyang High-speed Railway and Huairou South Station that are currently under construction are within the demonstration area and are expected to be put into service by the end of the 13th Five-year Plan. After the suburban railway from Wangjing was opened, the commuting between Huairou and downtown Beijing will be more convenient. The future construction goal of Huairou is to become a leading district in cultural and creative industry development as Beijing is building itself into a national cultural center. Huairou will continue to stick to highlighting its two core advantages in film and TV production technology and film and TV talent training and extending the two advantages by making use of the State Production Base of China Film Group and Beijing Film Academy so as to build a national film and TV industry demonstration district with a complete industrial chain.
The Indian guests Kishore Jawad, General Manager of India-China Film Society and Girish Sahadov Wakehart, Executive Director of India-China Film Society promoted the shooting location resources in Maharashtra, India and they hoped that the activity would strengthen resource integration, communication and market cooperation between India and China and build a new future together.
