From April 16 to 23, 2014, Immersion in Films – Film Carnival · Huairou of the 4th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) is unfolded in the domestically famous Stellar Mega Jincheng Movie-Making Base in China (Huairou). All interested parties are sincerely welcome to the Film Corridor, Six Segments and Seven-Day Thematic Activities.

　　On the morning of April 17, 2014, Film Carnival ? Huairou opened. Present at the opening ceremony were Li Chunliang, Vice Chairman, Secretary-General and Director of the Office of the 4th BJIFF Organizing Committee and Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Wang Liping, Vice Secretary-General of the 4th BJIFF Organizing Committee, Qi Jing and Chang Wei, respectively Party Secretary and Chief of Huairou District, Wang Shilong, Director of the Standing Committee of Huairou District People’s Congress, Hu Dong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Huairou District Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Huairou District Committee, Wang Yushan, Deputy Huairou District Chief and Dong Lin, Deputy Chairman of the CPPCC Huairou District Committee. Leaders of relevant institutions and enterprises which organize and support the event also attended the opening ceremony.

　　China (Huairou) Movie-Making Base is among the first batch of cultural and innovative industry cluster zones acknowledged by Beijing Municipality at the end of 2006, and one of the major projects approved by the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal Government. Since it was recognized as a movie-making industry cluster zone and China Film Digital Production Base was put into operation in July 2008, the development of Huairou Film Industry has made headway. It has become a movie-making base famous across the country for post-production and studio shooting. Based on the core resources of China Film Digital Production Base and Stellar Mega Jincheng Movie-Making Base launched in 1995, it has been the shooting site for a total of 1,600 films and TV plays. In recent years, nearly half of the blockbusters whose box offices exceed RMB 100 million are made in Huairou, thus it enjoys increasing prestige as China Movie-Making Base.

　　In such a context, Huairou District attaches great importance to the whole-chain construction of the movie-making industry, trying to realize mutual reinforcement of film exhibition and the movie-making base construction. This is the second time for Huairou to host an important component of the BJIFF. By availing of the wonderful platform of the BJIFF, the excellent foundation for the cinematic industry and rich natural and cultural tourism resources, we organize a host of film-centered entertainments in an innovative manner, to fully involve interested parties to have a first-hand experience with the cinematic technology, to feel for themselves the cinematic culture and enjoy the scenery of Huairou.

　　The activities at the main venue for Film Carnival ? Huairou are themed on “Immersion in Films”. Centering on “Travel in Huairou, Viewing in Huairou, Shopping in Huairou, Show in Huairou and Amusement in Huairou”, we try to follow through the message conveyed by the four key words “science, fashion, experience, film-dream” in organizing performances, games, experience-based activities, visits, activities at children’s amusement parks, film screening, crew recruitment and featured exhibitions, so as to make the tourists truly enjoy the fascinating world of movies. The event comprises six segments and seven-day thematic activities. The six segments are linked up by the corridor of films of the century – Experience Zone with the Time Dreamland, Dynamic Interaction Zone, 5D Film Experience Zone, Cosplay Zone, Immersion Zone and Huairou Featured Exhibition Zone. Aside from the main venue, sub-venues have been set in film-making tourist attractions of Huairou District which will operate from April 17 to May 23. The ticket price for the main venue of the Carnival is RMB 20 per person. With a ticket, the tourist can visit the south and north factories of Stellar Mega Jincheng Movie-Making Base; after he has collected seals from all the six segments of Film Carnival ? Huairou, he can head to various sub-venues and buy tickets at a discount.

　　Walk along the Film Corridor and Recall Films of the Century

　　Via the display of images, texts, videos and related props, the Film Corridor combs through the development history of Chinese and foreign films over the past century by integrating lights and shows into the passage of time and linking up activities at various venues of the Carnival. Here the tourists can quickly go through numerous classic movies which tend to call up their deeply buried memories.

　　Enjoy Fascinating Films in the Six Segments

　　The Carnival has six zones, namely, the Experience Zone with the Time Dreamland, Dynamic Interaction Zone, 5D Film Experience Zone, Cosplay Zone, Immersion Zone and Huairou Featured Exhibition Zone, which offer the tourists an experience with films from multiple perspectives, like dubbing, filmmaking, special effects, makeup, film technology and Huairou featured exhibition.

　　Feel BJIFF via the Seven Cinematic Themes

　　This Carnival has set seven film theme days, specifically, New and Novel Films, Huairou Tourism, Children’s Animated Films, Behind the Scene, Action Science, Film Music and Tribute to Classics. On different theme days, the tourists can register for crew recruitment activity of the film Under the Great Wall (to be confirmed), seek consultation on tourism in Huairou and join in the lucky draw, or encourage kids to play a role in children’s animated film performance, appreciate the performance of classic movie music staged by professional bands, go for dubbing, enjoy classic films, participate in interactive games, and hear the elderly projectionists recount the “classic works” in their minds while recalling their fond memories.

　　The children’s amusement park offers many parents-children interaction games. Various entertainment facilities enable the children to enjoy themselves to their hearts’ content and the familiar film scenarios offer them a nice journey through the fairyland.
