Synopsis:
Laura and Giorgio, her husband, love each other intensely and are passionate about their work. However, a veil of unhappiness lingers on their marriage: the unfulfilled desire to conceive a baby. On the day of her birthday, Laura is raped. Giorgio is devastated by this tragedy and unable to react. However, Laura responds to it in a totally unusual way, by pushing him to make love to her and engaging him with a second honeymoon in the following weeks. Upon their return home, Laura finds out she is pregnant: an embarassing silence welcomes the announcement, as heavy as a stone. Giorgio is shocked. Laura finds herself alone and, during the few months she has to decide about her pregnancy, she goes through the infinite possibilities of expression of the human soul. As the story progresses, she appears ready to do whatever it takes in order to realize her dream: to become a mother.
