Films Are like Dreams for Life: 5 Days to Go till Opening of BJIFF
Li Meng, a young actress from Chinese Mainland, graduated from the Department of Performing Arts, Beijing Film Academy. She rose to stardom for playing Bai Ling in the White Deer Plain (2010). The film was shortlisted for the Competition Section of the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. She starred in the Young Love Lost directed by Xiang Guoqiang in 2015. The film won the Best Directorial Debut at the 23rd Beijing College Student Film Festival, and Li Meng was nominated for Best Actress for her role as Bai Lan. In 2018, she won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Acting for her performance in the Dead Pigs at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
Li Meng told us her story with films in one minute.
Her acting career started with an unusual cold water wading experience. It was also a gift to celebrate her coming of age. She doesn’t care if it’s worth it or not. She devotes her passion, stretches herself and embraces films. Her attitude towards acting is nothing but “persistence”.
For Li Meng, films are the beginning and whole of stories.
What do films mean to you?
The BJIFF specially invited five filmmakers to tell their stories of bonding with films in one minute. Sometimes, one minute decides everything. Will you fall in love with a film because of one minute? Which minute in which film is unforgettable for you?
It’s Li Meng’s one minute, and also the “first minute” of the countdown to the grand opening of the BJIFF.
Let's gather up at the 12th BJIFF to celebrate what we love.
