The commercial value and artistic value, just like twin flowers, should be compatible and nourish each other. Only by doing so can we make the film work neither separate from "humanity" nor discard "survival".

The career of Huang Xuan, a young actor, clearly shows that he has always devoted himself to the integration of commercial value and artistic value of films.

In 2014, Huang Xuan played Xiaoma in the film Blind Massage directed by Lou Ye, and thus won multiple awards and nominations. In 2015, he was invited to sit on the jury for the SIFF Asian New Talent Award. In 2017, the film Youth directed by Feng Xiaogang and starring Huang Xuan was screened. He played Liu Feng in the film and was nominated for the second time for the Annual Actor of China Film Directors’ Guild. In the same year, he played Bai Juyi, a Tang dynasty poet, in Chen Kaige's film Legend of the Demon Cat, and witnessed a positive box office performance. In 2020, the film Wu Hai starring Huang Xuan was shortlisted for the main competition section of San Sebastián International Film Festival. In 2021, he was awarded the Golden Crane Award for Best Actor for the role of Li Da in the film 1921. Other films that he stars in, such as Singpangtra and Life Hotel, are to be released soon.

Huang Xuan has always been close with and the BJIFF. In 2023, he served as a jury member of "Project Pitches", dedicated to helping the BJIFF to discover good stories and cultivate new filmmakers. This year, as the market pioneering convener of the "Beijing Film Market", Huang Xuan will work with the BJIFF to promote the symbiosis of commercial and artistic values of films, and is committed to overcoming any difficulties and making breakthroughs, bringing innovative and popular films to the market, and impressing and touching the audience.
