  ▍China Film Capital Development Forum—Digital Empowerment Shapes the Future
On the morning of August 18, the 2nd China Film Capital Development Forum—Digital Empowerment Shapes the Future of the 12th BJIFF Theme Forum was held in Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center. With focus on the topics like the integration and development of one area and three science cities with Huairou Science City as the mainstay, the construction of “Digital Film Capital” and the integration of science and technology into films, all the participating guests had in-depth and passionate discussions. Jiang Xiaohan, the hostess of China Movie Channel served as the moderate of the forum. The guests attending the forum included Ren Yue, member of the Party Committee of China Film Group Corporation, Hu Yaozhi, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy, Liu Chun, General Manager of China Film Co-production Corporation, Norman Sze, Vice Chairman of Deloitte, Li Ning, Senior Vice President of New Classics Media Group, Jiang Wusheng, Founder of Beijing United Entertainment Partners Culture & Media Co., Ltd., Gou Lijun, Vice Director of the Committee of Science-Film & Television Integration, China Science Writers Association, Han Liyan, Research Fellow of the Digital Economy Laboratory, Beijing Yanqi Lake Institute of Applied Mathematics, Wang Zhicheng, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, Wang Shu, Vice Chairwoman of the Committee of Science-Film & Television Integration, China Science Writers Association.
During the forum, Huairou District Cultural Promotion Center signed Agreement on Strategic Cooperation Framework with Beijing TV Artists Association and Beijing Film Association to carry out cooperation in various fields such as the new trend of international co-production, film and television content creation, copyright protection and integration of technology and film, so as to promote the construction of China (Huairou) Film and Television Industry Demonstration Zone. Meanwhile, a total of 20 enterprises such as Beijing Qijin Culture Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Xuanyu Culture Development Co., Ltd. and Beijing Xingzun Shengmin Culture Media Co., Ltd. have signed the contract to settle down in the China Film Capital. 
  
  E-Sports Celebration for Filmmakers: Film Company Tournament & Star Tournament
On August 18, the Film Carnival, Game-Based Animated Films Section and the Star Offline Competition officially kicked off. The event was divided into two parts: the Film Company Game for Peace Challenge and the Star & Streamer Tournament. The latter attracted eight stars loving e-sports to team up with famous e-sports professionals and streamers to deliver the trendiest e-sports party through online and offline interaction. 
  
  ▍Film Power Forum—Innovations and Improvements in Film Criticism in the New Era
On the afternoon of August 18, the Film Power Forum—Innovations and Improvements in Film Criticism in the New Era was held in Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center. The issues on the path of building a film power, constructing a film theory and reviewing ecosystem in line with the development goal became an important topic at this forum. Zhang Wei, Executive Vice President of the China Film Critics Association served as the moderator and the guests giving keynote speeches at the forum included Hu Zhifeng, Vice President of Beijing Film Academy, Yin Hong, Professor at School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, Wang Yichuan, Chairman of the Beijing Literary and Art Critics Association, Chen Xuguang, Professor of Peking University. The panelists attending the forum included Chen Jie, CEO of Easy Production, Li Ning, Senior Vice President of New Classics Media Group, Liu Chun, General Manager of China Film Co-production Corporation, Liu Hongtao, Chairman of Fun Age Pictures, Tan Fei, Founder of Talk Show Uncles, Wu Yanyu, Editor-in-Chief of DoMore, Yin Xiangjin, Senior Assistant to the President of Wanda Cultural Industry Group, Director Yu Baimei, Zhao Weifang, Deputy Director of the Film and Television Research Institute at the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Zhang Bo, senior vice president of Maoyan Entertainment. 
  
  ▍Premiere of Films Shortlisted for Tiantan Award: The Blind Man Who Did Not Want To See Titanic and The Family
The premieres of films shortlisted for competition section of Tiantan Award, The Blind Man Who Did Not Want To See Titanic and The Family, were held on the afternoon and evening of August 18 respectively at Beijing Wanda Cinema.

  ▍“Forward Future” Honorary Award Ceremony—Night of Young Filmmakers
On the evening of August 18, the 12th BJIFF “Forward Future” Honorary Award Ceremony & A.R.T. Night of Young Filmmakers was concluded at the Yanqi Lake in Huairou, Beijing. The film Journey to the West (China) won the honor of Best Film and Matev? Luzar (Slovenia), director of Orchestra, won the honor of Best Director. 
Adam Koloman Rybansk? and Luka?s? Csicsely (Czech), the screenwriter of Somewhere Over the Chemtrails, won the honor of Best Screenplay. Yang Haoyu (China) won the honor of Best Actor with the film Journey to the West. Mai Kiryu (Japan) won the honor of Best Actress with the film Grown Ups. The Rust (Columbia) won the honor of Best Artistic Contribution. The Shape of Things to Come (Peru) and Love Found Love Lost won the honor of Jury Special Mention. 
  
  ▍Pre-screening Appreciation Guide of In Pursuit of Light 
  On August 18, the pre-screening appreciation guide of In Pursuit of Light, a film of "Women’s Voice" Section of the 12th BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama was held at Beijing Broadway Cinematheque.  
Before the screening, Sha Dan, the curator of Beijing Film Panorama, introduced the main achievements of director Zhang Tongdao: his children's documentaries such as Kids Kingdom and Post-00s; tracing history in the form of documentaries and interacting with film history. He unearthed Sun Mingjing, the pioneer of Chinese film education and his documentaries and continued The Story of Ball filmed by the French in China in the 1970s. He also created a film known as the "Film History of Films": In Pursuit of Light. Sha Dan also introduced the starring of the film, Ms. Lisa Lu, an outstanding Chinese American filmmaker. She grew up in a family of opera and started to learn performance in her thirties after marriage and childbirth. In the late 1950s, she played many Asian characters in Hollywood films and her representative works included The Arch, The 14 Amazons, The Empress Dowager and The Last Emperor. 
After the screening, the VCR specially recorded by Director Zhang Tongdao for this activity was played. In the video, he talked about the motives and structural design of this film, the interactions with Ms. Lisa Lu and his views on the boundary of documentary, so that the audience could have a better understanding of the film.
"Walking through the crossed time and space of the film for a century spiritual adventure", it’s a romantic agreement between the audience and the film as well as an innovative attempt of the documentary. 
  
  ▍Screening and Meet-and-Greet with Cast & Crew of Bamboo Dragonfly
On August 18, the screening and meet-and-greet with cast & crew of Bamboo Dragonfly, a film of the 12th BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama, was held at China Film Archive Art Cinema. 
The film tells a story of a group of girls majoring in dance who are about to graduate and rehearse night and day so that their parents can enjoy their wonderful performance on the stage. Countless pains finally turn into a beautiful chapter with great success. 
After the screening, director Zhang Baozhu and Feng Xiubin showed up on the site. They introduced the origin of creation, production process, camera design and the labor division among the cast and crew in detail. They also shared many moving stories behind the film with the audience. 
Hope the bamboo dragonfly will never fall and all dreams will eventually come true.
