The 13th BJIFF China Documentary Films Screening Project Launched
On the afternoon of April 28, the 13th BJIFF China Documentary Films Screening Project was launched. The opening and signing ceremony of “Documentary Films Screening Cinema” as well as the screening of Beijing 2022, the official film of Beijing Winter Olympics was held at Hall 4 of China National Film Museum. The event is guided by the China Film Association, Beijing Municipal Film Administration and Communication University of China, hosted by the China Documentary Research Center (CDRC) of the Communication University of China, and the Belt and Road Initiative Documentary Consortium (BriDoc), and organized by China National Film Museum, Capital Cinema, Poly International Cinema, Daguanlou Cinema and Wanda Cinema. 
  
  “China Documentary Films Screening Project” 
CDRC China Documentary Films Screening Project, initiated by the China Documentary Research Center of the Communication University of China, supported and guided by the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, adheres to the principle of systematics, professionalism, service and public welfare, aims to expand the screening channels of documentary films, continue to explore excellent documentary films and extend the communication space, so as to further expand the influence and promote the high-quality development of Chinese documentary films in the new era. 
  
  Zhang Hong, Secretary of Party Leadership Sub-Group and Vice President of the China Film Association, attended the launching ceremony 
Many leaders and guests, including Zhang Hong, Secretary of Party Leadership Sub-Group and Vice President of the China Film Association, Han Fanghai, Class-II Counsel of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Chen Ling, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the China National Film Museum, Duan Peng, Vice President of Communication University of China, attended the ceremony. Han Fanghai, Class-II Counsel of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, said in his opening speech that on the new journey of high-quality development of Chinese films, the China Documentary Films Screening Project, initiated by the China Documentary Research Center of the Communication University of China with the support and participation of many units, institutions and theaters, is a practical action to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, an important measure to promote the high-quality creation of documentary films and a beneficial exploration to promote the balanced development of Chinese film market.
 
  
  Han Fanghai, Class-II Counsel of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a speech. 
Chen Ling, Director of the China National Film Museum, said that the museum will join hands with the CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" to mark the history of national rejuvenation with high-quality documentary films, gather the force of the people forging ahead with the language of museum and the art of film, so as to make new contributions to the construction of a socialist cultural power and a film power. 
  
  Chen Ling, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the China National Film Museum, delivered a speech. 
Duan Peng, Vice President of Communication University of China, said in his speech that the CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" has extremely important leading significance for the Chinese documentary film industry. Communication University of China will actively provide relevant scientific research conditions and academic resources to solidly promote the smooth project development, and contribute to boosting the social influence of Chinese documentary films. 
  
  Duan Peng, Vice President of Communication University of China, delivered a speech. 
After the opening speech, He Suliu, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Communication University of China, Director of the China Documentary Research Center, Chairman of the BriDoc, officially released the CDRC “China Documentary Films Screening Project”. He said that the project will integrate the upstream and downstream resources of the industry to provide multiple content choices for cinemas and more high-quality documentary films for audiences by selecting excellent films, certifying theater halls, planning themed exhibitions and holding characteristic screenings, so that the market recognition, social visibility, public influence and international communication of Chinese documentary films can be greatly enhanced.

At the launching ceremony, the attending leaders and guests turned on the phone lights together to announce the official launch of CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project”. Secretary Zhang Hong, Class-II Counsel Han Fanghai, Director of the China National Film Museum Chen Ling and Prof. Zhong Danian launched the opening ceremony for the project and granted the title “Documentary Film Screening Hall” to China National Film Museum, Capital Cinema, Poly International Cinema, Daguanlou Cinema and Wanda Cinema.

  Title granting ceremony for “Documentary Film Screening Cinema” and “Documentary Film Screening Hall”
Zhong Danian, Professor at Communication University of China and former Vice President of Hong Kong Phoenix TV, pointed out after the title granting ceremony that CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" provides a good direction for the healthy development of social and public welfare documentary films. Yin Hong, Vice Chairman of China Film Association and professor of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, pointed out that CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" should become a brand so that more documentary film fans can enjoy excellent documentary films. Yu Chao, Deputy General Manager of Capital Cinema, said that CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" complies with the development of Chinese film market and the changes of audience’s viewing demands. Capital Cinema is willing to make more contributions for this project. Wang Linqun, Vice General Manager of Poly Pictures Investment Co., Ltd., hoped to join hands with all the cinema colleagues to expand and enhance the Chinese documentary film market.

  China Documentary Research Center, the initiator of CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project", signed a letter of intent for cooperation with screening partners. 
Beijing 2022, the opening film of the 13th BJIFF and the official documentary film of Beijing Winter Olympics, was screened on the site. The film is jointly produced by the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the International Olympic Committee with Lu Chuan as director and Zhang Yimou as executive producer. It will be screened nationwide on May 19. The film tells the story of athletes from all over the world repeatedly challenging themselves and unremittingly pursuing their Olympic dreams. After the screening, the cast & crew of Beijing 2022 stepped on the stage to share the stories behind the screen and interact with the audience. Director Lu Chuan expressed his gratitude and blessings to CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" through a VCR. Based on the documentary comprehensive evaluation system developed by China Documentary Research Center of Communication University of China, the CDRC "China Documentary Films Screening Project" will select more excellent works for screening in the future, so as to ignite the audience's passion and extend the vitality of documentary films.
