The wheel of technology history rolls forward, leaving countless tracks on the road of film industry. In 1895, the first batch of films by the Lumière brothers, such as Workers Leaving the Factory and Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat, premiered in Paris, opening up the era of film art.
In 1927, the debut of The Jazz Singer made the form of audiovisual film art possible. In 1935, Becky Sharp was released, becoming the first color feature film in the world. In 2024, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the world's first AI-made feature-length film, made its debut, marking the beginning of a new film technology revolution...
Against the backdrop of the collision between new technology and cinema, the BJIFF and the Institute of Film, Television and Theatre, Peking University will co-host the 14th BJIFF “Future of Light and Shadow” Film Science and Technology Section.
Notably, the Film Tech Red Carpet for the “Future of Light and Shadow” Section will grandly open on April 19, 2024 at Langyuan Station in Beijing.

Gala theme: This is a movie about “the future”
At the Film Tech Red Carpet for the “Future of Light and Shadow” Section, we will change the form of traditional film festival red carpets, and build a three-dimensional visual stage with the support of dozens of technology firms and film companies. Based on the whole process of film production, the gala will display the power of every new technology, and present the latest project results of the combination between technology and film and television industry in a visual and staged way.
