The Pioneer of the Modern Shandong Cuisine LU STYLE Pays Tribute to 120 Years of Chinese Cinema with Chinese Gastronomy

Embracing the glory of Chinese cinema's 120-year history, and ushering in a new chapter of innovative cinematic brilliance. On April 18, the 15th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) opened grandly at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center under the theme “New Quality Films Empowered by Technology, Showing Harmony in Diversity”. From the first film The Battle of Dingjunshan in 1905 to Ne Zha 2 making international waves and setting world records during the 2025 Spring Festival season, Chinese cinema has traversed a remarkable 120 years. This gathering of global filmmakers not only pays tribute to the illustrious journey of Chinese cinema but also looks forward to future artistic innovations. As a pioneer of modern Shandong cuisine, LU STYLE embodies the spirit of heritage and innovation with its brand philosophy of “beauty through creation”. During BJIFF, LU STYLE organized numerous engaging activities within the venue, infusing the globally anticipated cinematic event with the essence of Eastern culinary aesthetics.

A Cross-Dimensional Resonance: New School Shandong Cuisine Meets Cinematic Art -
From the Red Carpet to the Venue: LU STYLE Presents a “Tasteable History of Film”
Film is the art of carving time, and cooking is the art of harmonizing flavors. As culinary artisans step onto the red carpet, two forms of artistic expression rooted in daily life come together under the interplay of light and shadow - embodying the deeper meaning behind this year's BJIFF theme “Beauty in Common”.
As the official exclusive premium dining brand of the 15th BJIFF, and the only Chinese restaurant corporate honored as the “Great Brand” award, LU STYLE - the sole restaurant to hold both Michelin and Black Pearl awards in Shandong cuisine - is deeply rooted in the rich soil of Shandong culture. With its multifaceted exploration of a better life, LU STYLE echoes the diversity and inclusiveness of cinematic art. This collaboration is not only a showcase of China's high-end catering services on the world stage, but also a cultural convergence - where the enduring tradition of Shandong cuisine's banquet etiquette and music meets the powerful storytelling of a century of Chinese cinema.

At the main venue of BJIFF, LU STYLE has created a large-scale circular light installation that has become a major highlight and photo destination. Designed in the shape of a “circular lens”, the installation symbolizes the 120-year legacy of Chinese cinema - a cycle of continuity, completeness, and endless creativity; Flowing images of peonies within the ring are inspired by an over-880-year-old peony tree from LU STYLE (Sanyuanqiao Branch, Beijing), blending the national beauty of the peony with contemporary cinematic art. In harmony with the theme “Homage to Chinese Cinema · Homage to Chinese Cuisine”, the installation conveys the poetic vision of “peony and screen blooming together” - a celebration of Eastern aesthetics through the fusion of cultural symbolism and modern expression.

At the tea break area, LU STYLE presented classic snacks specially curated for 15th BJIFF. The Eight-Color Pancakes of LU STYLE were laid out like movie screens, with fillings such as spicy seafood and beef rolls with cucumber serving as “edible film symbols”. Through a triple sensory experience of taste, vision, and ritual, filmmakers were immersed in an aesthetic appreciation of cuisine as art.

“Under the guidance of Master Wang Yijun, a grandmaster of Shandong cuisine, and Chef Qu Hao, a culinary advisor to LU STYLE, the brand upholds traditional essence while integrating modern aesthetics. This mirrors how Chinese cinema has both preserved Eastern storytelling traditions and embraced global languages over its century-long journey,” explained Wang Zhijie during an interview, highlighting the deeper significance of this collaboration.

In April, Beijing shines with both spring beauty and starlight. During the film festival, LU STYLE (Sanyuanqiao Branch, Beijing) will transform into a sub-venue for the BJIFF, themed “Following the Light, Meeting Beauty - Sharing Splendor Together”, marking the opening of the fourth LU STYLE Peony Festival.
United by Beauty, Marching Toward the Future
The 120 years of Chinese cinema have been dedicated to telling Chinese stories. Similarly, LU STYLE's growth path reflects the inheritance and innovation of Chinese culinary civilization. When the millennia-old elegance of peonies meets the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in cinema, and when LU STYLE's culinary aesthetics converse with the visual artistry of film, it represents not only an innovative cross-sector collaboration but also a confident expression of Eastern aesthetics' inclusiveness.
