For every person who sees films as a dream, there are just as many who long to enter the market. For every good story waiting to be told, there are just as many eager viewers. For every creator waiting to be discovered, there are just as many investors looking for new talent.
Market Screening serves as a bridge in the world of films. Directors and audiences can freely exchange creation techniques here to promote the best film presentation possible. Filmmakers and buyers meet face-to-face here to negotiate the market “landing” of films. We recall that during the screening of the Indian film Sadgati, an enthusiastic audience member volunteered as an interpreter, allowing the director to have a wonderful conversation with the guests. The Second Secretary of the Philippine Embassy personally introduced the film Firefly and added contact information for potential partners on the spot during its screening. The Old House creators could not stop praising the screening, with three posts on the Moments of WeChat in a row... Every filmmaker can have an unexpectedly excellent experience here.
The Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) Market Screening and filmmakers have reached out to each other in perfect harmony as word-of-mouth has grown over the last three years. The 14th Market Screening screened a total of 21 films, including Chinatown Cha-Cha, which was successfully released in November of this year, and The Coffin Painter and Old House, which will be released on December 20. A number of films are also in the process of negotiating their introduction or other forms of cooperation.
To allow more great films to be seen, the 15th Market Screening in 2025 will waive screening fees for selected films, giving them a free opportunity to reach the market. Whether you are a large corporation or a small business, a new or old friend, you will have equal attention here. The BJIFF will arrive as scheduled in April of next year. Let us meet at our spring appointment!
