John Grant, a teacher hired to work in a remote area, plans to stay overnight in the mining town called Bundanyabba before flying to Sydney. However, what was meant to be a one-night stay turns into five days, as he spirals into self-destruction. When the haze of alcohol lifts, the educated John Grant is no more, leaving behind a man consumed by self-loathing.
