In 1943 Nazi-occupied Poland, Hedwig, wife of Auschwitz commander Rudolf Höss, obsessively maintains her manicured domestic paradise while ignoring the adjacent death camp’s atrocities. As Rudolf oversees industrial crematorium upgrades to streamline mass murder, their idyllic estate becomes infiltrated by ash and distant screams. Hedwig’s delusional normalcy clashes with the Final Solution’s machinery, culminating in a chilling moral reckoning: When complicity is cloaked in routine, what distinguishes human civility from monstrous indifference?
