The Spring and Autumn period in the Kingdom of Jin. The favored servant Tu Anjia kills Zhao Dun and over three hundred of his family members. To save her orphaned child, Zhao Dun's daughter-in-law, Princess Zhuangji, gives her son to Cheng Ying in exchange for his safety. Fifteen years later, Cheng Ying and Wei Jiang collaborate to kill Tu, avenging the Zhao family. This tragedy is triggered by the cruel entertainment of Tu Anjia and Duke Ling of Jin as they amuse themselves at the expense of the people from Jiangxiao Pavilion.
