The spectacular debut of the 2025 animated film Ne Zha 2 signified a highlight moment for the rise of Chinese anime. The film's box office has been soaring since its release, topping the global all-time single-market box office chart, reshaping the international perception of Chinese film market and giving Chinese anime a greater voice in the global animation industry. More and more international audiences begin to notice Chinese animation and look forward to seeing more excellent works with Chinese cultural characteristics.
In order to discover talents in the animation, film, game, and cultural creative industries, to provide a steady stream of outstanding talents for the sustainable development of China's animation, film, and game industry, and to build a platform for communication and display of work for young talents in the animation field, the BJIFF Game-Based Animated Films Section launched the Exquisite Appreciation Event, namely the “Selection of Animated Short Films and Comics” activity, in collaboration with more than dozens of professional colleges and universities nationwide to collect and select exceptional works by students majoring in animation. Distinguished faculty members are specially invited to participate in the preliminary evaluation, while well-known directors and other key creators, as well as senior industry experts in the animation industry will serve as the final jury.
