With the crystal lake mirroring mountains, sunshine beats down like delicate brush strokes. Life in everything is alive. The 14th BJIFF Film & Fashion Show and 30th Anniversary of VICUTU was successfully hosted on the Kuilongwen Welcome Avenue, Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Center, by the Yanqi Pagoda on April 25, 2024.
Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Center
The design of the Yanqi Lake International Conference Center originates from local culture, and symbolizes cultural identity and confidence, the latter of which appeals to the original aspiration and mission for the founding of the Film & Fashion Section. Therefore, it’s chosen as the venue for peak fashion shows. The venue, and unique creativity and inspirations delivered on the site empowers the converged communication and development of fashion & film in China.
Film & Fashion Section
Film and fashion share beauty in diversity. The establishment of the Film & Fashion Section at the 14th BJIFF aims to explore the essence and connection between film and fashion, and allow both to blend and inspire more ideas and creativities. The section was packed with exciting activities. In particular, the Closing Film & Fashion Show tried to find the way forward for fashion through convergence of film and fashion.
The ceremony made up of “Past”, “Present” and “Future” chapters demonstrated the history and prospects of cinema and fashion industry. The “Past” chapter presented a retrospective of the glorious past of film and fashion collaboration through precious historical clips and materials.
The “Present” chapter focused on the innovation and development of current film and fashion industries. A series of impressive presentations and speeches dived into new strategies and way forward for the application of full-range formal wear in cinema. The Film & Fashion Section is committed to bring full-range formal wear and cinema closer, and offering the audience richer and more diverse visual experience.
The “Future” chapter looked ahead on the prospective roadmap for the film and fashion industries. Through partnership with our strategic partners in along the industrial chain, we will promote the wide application and popularity of full-range suits in cinema, and generate new momentum driving the integrated development of film and fashion industries.
14th BJIFF Closing Film & Fashion Show
Lv Yan and Zhang Chenzheng
According to Zhang Chenzheng and Lv Yan, heads of the organizing committee of the Film & Fashion Section, despite being two separate fields, film and fashion are mutually complementary and inspiring. The collaboration aims to combine filmmaking ideas with fashion elements to create distinctively appealing short films, and enhance the popularity and market reach of fashion brands through the influence of short films.
Liu Haoran
Moreover, a new brand identity short video Beauty of All Things starring Liu Haoran was released at the ceremony. The short video features graceful and charming Liu Haoran in various suits with magnificent natural landscapes in the background. He travels among rivers and mountains, and blends in the nature, vividly illustrating the craftsmanship of formal wear culture and persistent pursuit of inspiration and creativity in the film and fashion industries.
Each wear in the show became a unique art installation that connected the past and present, and reflected on sustainability and co-existence of the past, present and future. The audience witnessed a cleverly crafted visual feast, and experienced the dazzling appeal of film and fashion.
VICUTU Show
Many celebrities, big names and guests in the film, music and fashion communities at home and abroad, including Australian film sound designer David White, director Zhang Li, director Cui Rui, Du Chun, Lou Yixiao, Li Dongxue, Zhang Rui, Zhang Xiaolong, Xu Haiqiao, Dong Youlin, Lai Yi, Ji Huanbo, Wang Yutian, Zhou Rui, Wang Bowen, Oscar Wang and Zheng Hao among others, attended the show. With spring in the air by the Yanqi Lake in April, guests passionate about cinema and fashion from around the world were gathered under the Film & Fashion Section to “jointly pursue film and fashion, and honor the beauty of all things.”
