Rich Variety of Films Carry Forward the Legacy of “Dual Olympics”, and the 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week Launches Collection of Works!
The 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week Launch Activity for Collection of Works was held on the afternoon of April 26. Gao Yunchao, Deputy Director of the Beijing Olympic City Development Center, Chen Xiang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Beijing Radio & Television Station and Deputy Secretary General of the BJIFF Organizing Committee, Lu Hui, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Beijing Radio & Television Station, Lu Hongze, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sport, Wei Dengfan, Secretary General of the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation, representatives from the cast & crew of the Beijing 2022, official film of the Beijing 2022, volunteer representatives, winner representatives from the 40th Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST, and sports film fans were present.

As Gao Yunchao stated, the 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week would deepen cooperation with the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), strengthen cooperation with domestic and international institutions in building an international sports film and television exchange platform with international fame and authority following the principle of “inheriting Olympic legacy and promoting development", tell Chinese sports stories well, reinforce exchanges of sports culture between China and other countries, foster the growth of the sports industry in China, and contribute to the construction of a sports power.

Franco Ascani, FICTS President, expressed his excitement about the Collection of Works this year via video, and intention of continuous collaboration between the Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST and Beijing International Sports Film Week to facilitate the development of sports films in China.

Wu Dajing, Chinese short track speed skater, also sent his congratulatory video message. He felt honored to be appointed as the publicity & promotion ambassador of the 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week, and wished to attract the attention of the public to sports films in China, promote the national fitness program and carry forward the legacy of “dual Olympics” with his influence.

The Launch Activity played the trailer of the Beijing 2022, the opening film of the 13th BJIFF and official film of the Beijing 2022. Later, Lin Lingsi, Chief of the General Affairs Division, Media and Communications Department, Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (BOCWOG), Li Lisha, producer of the Beijing 2022, and Wei Yining, volunteer representative of the Beijing 2022, appeared on the stage, and shared touching stories in the filmmaking process and personal experiences at Beijing 2022, instantly bringing audience back to those exciting and passionate years of the Winter Olympics.

At the end of the event, Gao Yunchao presented Mention d’Honneur to two winning films at the 40th Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST-World Championship Final held last year, while Chen Xiang and Wei Dengfan presented certificate of honor to five shortlisted films.

It’s known that the 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week, themed “Double Olympic Dreams in Images”, is hosted by the BJIFF Organizing Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA), organized by the Committee on Information of the COC and the Beijing Olympic City Development Center. It’s an important dual Olympic legacy brand project launched in 2005. The Sports Film Week has been a part of the Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST-World Championship Final co-hosted by the FICTS and IOC since 2009. Among the 2022 collection of works, the Breaking Through, Light on Yoga, Cheer Up, A Date with Snow and Ice and The Wonder of Dance were nominated for the 40th Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST-World Championship Final. In particular, A Date with Snow and Ice and The Wonder of Dance won the Mention d’Honneur. Outstanding entries of the 19th Beijing International Sports Film Week will be nominated for the 41st Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST-World Championship Final.
