In order to implement the important directive of General Secretary Xi Jinping that emphasizes the significance of fitness to leading a happy and healthy life, the 14th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) has introduced the "BJIFF Basketball Game 2024", which means the first edition of the section. This event, initiated by filmmakers, is a basketball tournament targeting the general public and also represents an upgrade to the "Lan Ying Cup" Basketball Game for Filmmakers. Furthermore, the establishment of the Filmmakers' Basketball Association (FBA) was officially announced.
As an innovative fusion of "culture + sports", the BJIFF Basketball Game aims to leverage the active participation and social influence of filmmakers to further promote the spirit of widespread participation in basketball sports. This spirit encompasses values such as teamwork, perseverance, mutual respect, self-challenge, and an unwavering commitment to never give up!
Chai Junzhe, a young actor and former Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) player, will assume the role of "Star Ambassador-Chief Instructor" for BJIFF Basketball Game 2024. In this capacity, he will not only display his skills to compete for championship on the court but will also act as the head coach for the "Dream Team", selecting the Most Valuable Player (MVP) as part of the "Dream Draft" event. From April 6 to 21, the preliminary matches within each group will take place at the Jindouyun Basketball Center, followed by the knockout stage conducted through a lottery system to determine the champion, runner-up, and third-placed team. The lineup of competitors comprises quite a few former Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), NBL, and Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) players, as well as a plethora of screenwriters, producers, and actors from widely-watched films and television series.
