Where Is Film Criticism Going in Digital Intelligence Era?
With the creation of the first film, film criticism emerged accordingly. From the moment you cast your eyes on the screen, views will also come to mind.
There is no doubt that creation and criticism are two wings of cinema. We used to undergo a golden age in the 1980s when theoretical criticism and film creation were closely interacted. Critics were nourished by images, and filmmakers found suggestions from reviews. They were closely linked and complemented each other.
The situation is very different today. As videos become mainstream, film reviews seem to be everywhere. With the development of digital intelligence technology and media convergence, we have entered an era in which everyone is a film critic. In addition to various forms of writing, such as film reviews released via Weibo, official WeChat accounts and short videos, the AI writing is increasingly rising. Under such circumstances, we have to ask a question: Where is film criticism going in the digital intelligence era?
